Speech Testing...

My son got speech therapy via our local early intervention program.
It was awesome, free, and he also got an overall developmental assessment which is a part of assessing the child overall.
The program is free and for kids up until 3 years old.

My son enjoyed it, and I enjoyed it and we both learned a lot about speech. My son was speech delayed.
And they came to our house for my son's services.
It is totally voluntary as to what you want to do or have their services.
I did NOT have to get referred to them by our Pediatrician. I called them myself.

For us, they always contacted us in a reasonable time.

I would just give them a call, you've waited a week so far. I would ask WHEN you should be hearing from them, that way you have a general idea and know they haven't misplaced your file, which I'm sure they haven't. I went through them with both of my kids, neither qualified but it had been a month and a half and I still hadn't received the report, so I called them...they are quite busy and I got the report soon after calling.

I would call them - but not on a Monday morning; that's when everyone calls!! I've been thru all this with my son so I know what you're going thru. It can seem daunting at times but it's all worth it. My son started in the speech program at pre-school at age five and I was scared to death sending him off all alone; he was my first!!! He stayed in the program several years and everything turned out fine.

Don't be alarmed because they'll also probably want to test her hearing, if they haven't already.

All I can say is be very supportive, don't be afraid to ask questions along the way if there's something you don't understand and do everything they say as to working with her on your own. It will all pay off in the long run.

When we first started with EI, we received feedback very quickly. Since there have been budget cuts, it can take longer. They used to have 3 people serving 0-3 year old's full time. Now they have one part time person serving 0-5 year old's. I would follow up, but it still make take some time.

I would call them on Wednesday or Thursday. I'm sure you are on the list but sometimes a little reminder gives you a little push for priority. And, when you call just asking for an update, you don't seem too pushy.

Also, with 2 points below on a standardized test, your daughter is on the cusp. Meaning, she could learn the skills on her own with your help or she was having an off day. It's not a "huge" concern, but still shouldn't be overlooked.
