Hi! We are relocating from Frisco, TX to the Denver area this summer. I have 3 boys, one of which has a mild case of PDD-NOS. He is currently in a great private school which I hate to leave. I have never had him in the public school system and do not want to start now. He has come so far ..... Can anyone give me some advice on any specialized private schools in the Denver area that deal with ADHD, Autism? I know of the Joshua school but I am afraid he may be too advanced for that. Oh, he is 12 and going into 6th grade but not on grade level in each subject. Thanks!!

What can I do next?

Desiderata School is a great place to start. They are based out of Longmont (45 mins north), but they are afflicted with the Tutoring Club and working with several other specialized schools in the area.

###-###-#### is their Remix Center in Longmont.

Hi, K., I'm in Denver with a nearly 17 year old daughter with Asperger's among other things. She is also very gifted. I recommend you look into Denver Academy - an excellent private school for kids with learning differences of all kinds. My daughter attended middle school there and she really blossomed in terms of self-esteem, confidence and self-advocacy skills. She returned to public school for high school, primarily because she needed more advanced and AP courses, and she has been very successful there.

I am a clinical psychologist who specializes in working with families like ours, and I run a parent support group for parents of kids with Asperger's, PDD or nonverbal learning disability. I'd love to have you join us when you move!

take care, S.
