Sour Stomach

I have been experiencing bad stomachs a lot lately, and I have traced it back to apples. I was wondering if there is anyone else out there who ends up with a sour stomach after eating apples? I've never heard of anyone else experiencing this and it makes me wonder if there is an underlying health issue with my digestive system. I would love to hear from any MD, NP, NMD, G/E, etc. or anyone who has experienced this and found a way around it (I love apples!)

What can I do next?

I experience the same thing after eating apples, or any vegetable/fruit that contains a lot of fiber, (apples have about 3grams, http://www.nutritiondata.com/facts/fruits-and-fruit-juice...)

How many do you eat per day? Maybe you should stick to just one and perhaps just eat it at night so you don't have any uncomfortable feelings.

My grandmother used to mention a "sour" stomach from apples and grapes. They don't bother me any.

I too have an issue with apples. I thought it was from the fiber. I would love to know why.

I was wondering if you had an allergy to the apples. I know that I haveto peel off the skin off the apples to eat them because if I bite into one with the skin on it, my gums would be inflammed. That was when I knew I was allergic to it. But also, I have allergies to other foods and I do better if they had been baked, cooked, steamed or whatever and then was able to eat them. I have a friend who said that she can't drink apple juice. She said she gets this terrible feeling in her stomach and she wasn't specific what that feeling was but she can't drink apple juice. It may be an allergy and it's not the apple, it's the junk they put on those apples. Try organic and also try peeling the skin off the non organic apples and see what happens. Let us know.

If I eat an apple on an empty stomach I get rumblings as if I was starving. You can actually hear it from across the room. Been this way all my life. I dont get sick, but I also dont like the feeling so I only eat apples after dinner.

I have a friend whose husband experiences that w/ raw apples & apple juice. I'd never heard of it. He has no particular health issues. Cooked and dried apples don't seem to bother him.

it could be the pesticides they spray on the apples. Have you tried organic ones? That may alleviate your problems.

I recently started having the same issue. I tested it out and some apples caused me more grief than others. From what I read I think I may have developed a fructose intolerance.
