I am 32 and weigh about 124lbs. I am soo tired all the time! Does anyone have any good feedback/ideas on energy/metabilism pills? I have been struggling my entire life (up to 3 years ago) to weigh over 100lbs. Now that I do I feel so out of shape - granite I work for a mortgage broker behind a desk ALL DAY, get home , feed the girls (my nieces) clean the kitchen, shower them, then dress them for bed, then laundry and maybe.. MAYBE some tv time with my husband if I am not crashed out! I used to work out every day after work , but since we have the girls ( my neices) (july 2008) I have not had ANY time to do so! I try to eat healthy breakfast and lunch and most the time eat a good dinner. I need something to help motivate me with energy so I can tone up, loose weight and keep my eyes open!

What can I do next?

It could be so many things - busy life.... Medically, it could be a thyroid issue, anemia (low iron) or low vitamin levels (B&D). If it keeps up, I would have a physical and some basic blood work done to rule out the medical stuff (which isn't serious, and very treatable). Hang in there.

Have you been to the doctor to have a test for thyroid and iron deficiency? I found out that my thyroid was wayyyy out of whack and that was why I was exhausted all the time. They need to do the series of tests - not just the one as I found out it can be wrong the hard way - it came back borderline, but when another doctor did the "TSH & T4, Free" it showed up as being way out of synch. I have felt so much better when they got it back in line. I have recently been diagnosed with anemia (low iron) as well, which also leads to extreme fatigue. Good luck! J.

Could this be a medical problem? I had thyroid disease for years and couldn't function until I was diagnosed. That can cause weight gain too although I lost weight with it. You may also need extra sleep since you're so busy. Good luck to you!

Life will do this to you. But there are some medical issues that could be making it worse. I would schedule a check up with your dr. Have them do blood work for your thyroid, iron levels, b&d levels.

Maybe you could start trying to squeeze in a walk with the girls and your husband a few times a week too.

I hope you feel better soon!

First - soy is NOT good for us. It is a estrogen disruptor and most of it is genetically modified - bad and dangerous for our bodies. If you do soy, look for the NOT GMO symbol.

Tests to do: complete viral panel, thyroid (break it down so you see the T3 and T4, unbound/free), hormone (blood that breaks it down to see all three estrogens, progesterone, testosterone, free/unbound), neurotransmitters (saliva), and a cortisol (urine in most cases).

The major problem that I see with women is that one of our three systems gets in trouble and then other two overcompensate (thyroid, hormone, adrenal). You need to find out which one is in most distress and work on that to balance it out. Most doctors do just a basic blood test that will show only a very small picture of the above areas. Finding a doctor of osteopath (DO) is best as they want the reason behind the problem, not to just mask it with prescriptions.

I have a doctor I just love in Anaheim Hills if you are willing to travel some. Dr. Mary Berry ###-###-####

no pill help. But do your best to get adequate sunlight. This winter has been the worst for me yet... so gray and dreary all the time just makes me tired all the time.

How old are the girls? When kids are really small and really needy, it just seems to sap everything. If they are big enough, can they play games on a Wii with you? I know it isn't a "real" workout, but it gets your blood moving, and that is the first step to getting your energy back...

Definitely have your doctor check your Thyroid levels....all of the. T3, T4 and most importantly your TSH level. Your thyroid regulates your metabolism all all sorts of other things in your body. If a thyroid condition is untreated it can cause heart problems, concentration problems, energy problems and can eventually lead to death. It's simple blood test your doctor can do.

Sometimes lack of energy can be related to lack of iron. If you donate blood it will be checked and if it is low try eating cream of wheat for breakfast. This was a problem that I had and the suggestion worked for me. Good Luck.

Hi R.,

I bet money your body is simply not absorbing the nutrition you are trying to give it. Overwork and stress kills the body's ability to get that nutrition in you and doing the job it is supposed to. I take an absorbable (guaranteed) multivitamin/mineral complex that gives me energy. I truly notice if I forget to take it. These vitamins will also balance out your weight as to where your body feels it needs to be.

Your life is not much different from many peoples. Hang in there and let me know if you want more information.

Take care,

M.

I have lots of ideas for you. I'm a Shaklee gal! There are options, but the one that has made a difference for me is where I would start. Soy Protein. I drink at least one a day and sometimes two. I got my energy back and I'm 20 years older than you.

Do you drink water? water is important for metabolism too, and energy.
Do you eat healthily & balanced?
Do you sleep well and enough?]
Do you take vitamins and/or get enough iron?

Energy pills can also increase blood pressure and/or NOT be good if you have pre-existing health problems.

Try going to your Doctor....

As a sufferer of Chronic Fatigue Syndrome, I certainly understand just being plain "wiped out."
A couple of close friends of mine and I have found some incredible vitamins/supplements that have really made a difference.
If you would like to chat about this a little, please feel free to email me. It may be just what you're needing, and it may not...but when you are so tired, it's definitely worth a try.

I would love to chat with you if you would like to give me a ring ###-###-####)! I sell AMAZING products that actually work and have billions of dollars of research backing everything up that I sell (Shaklee products). I actually started using our CorEnergy and Cinch 3-in-1 Boost after a close friend of mine started using it and was seeing awesome results! Now I take them everyday and it gives me the energy I need to run my own business and go workout pushing 3 of my kids in a stroller at Baby Bootcamp! Hi R.,

I would definitely heed the warnings of the thyroid. It's amazing what that thing does!! Second, making sure you're drinking enough water. Our bodies function at their best when you're drinking water. (In fact, you should be drinking half your body weight in ounces, so 62 oz!)
With that said I'm taking a supplement every couple of days called Xyng.
All natural product that just makes me feel good and have energy with no crash. www.amaxyng.com
I get a whole bunch at a time so if you want me to send you a sample I can.
Good luck and take care of yourself!
Cheers

This won't help you lose weight, but it's fast, easy, free and will give you an energy boost. In the morning when it's hard to get out of bed, and then any time of day where you have 1 - 2 free minutes (in private) do Breath Of Fire. You basically just "belly breathe" as fast as you can. Breathe through your nose. It'll make a loud panting sound. Should give you a quick boost.

My daughter and I are taking Women's Fitness Rapid Thermal Fat Loss Formula for Women. She swears it has helped her lose 10 pounds. I'm not sure if it's helping me or not in the weight loss, but it does give me more energy.
Eating well and exercising will make a huge difference. Maybe 3 days a week you could do a crockpot meal to minimize kitchen time and then all of you could go for a 30 minute walk.
I found my inspiration here: http://www.sparkpeople.com
Maybe you can find some too!

Dear R.,

Several of the moms have mentioned getting your thyroid checked, which is well and good. But you should also have your adrenals checked...24-hour salivary cortisol test, which is usually only done by alternative healthcare practitioners (naturopaths, acupuncturists, etc.) Adrenals and thyroid are often linked in terms of function, though many medical professionals don't recognize this. I highly recommend going the alternative med route...and if you do need thyroid replacement, please ask for natural (Armour or similar) and not synthetic.

Hi dear,
you have a good life and thank God you have the girls , being a mom it is not easy but remember you must be strong to help the girls and your husband .
remember if you say all the time I am tired and think about it in your head I am tired , automatically you get tired just like the kids, they say I am bored , they say that because they can't think of other things to do and it is just easy to say I am bored . grown ups they say I am tired !!!
and as far as your diet goes don' t cut nothing from what you eat because you need all the energy you can get but remember make food everyone and eat the same thing only one Rule don't eat with you eyes, eat as much to just get the craving out or the best way to measure is to make your plate then cut out half of it . and don't forget get your vitamins at all time if it make you hungry if you take it in the morning take it after little dinner , remember another little rule is no food after 6pm.make sure you take vitamin B complex every day , you can take it twice a day and it gives you energy and boost you up and with all the things you do at home or work you don't need to do nothing else .
I hope , I answer your question

I agree with Patty and the Shaklee supplements. Before them I was so tired I could not function. Besides the Soy protein, I would add the Vitalizer pack with iron. They also have Energy chews. Their Cinch program is fantastic for weight management.
Shaklee is always safe and always works.
