Single Mom Looking for Resources to Help with Christmas

For the past couple months I've been trying to get my son's name on the Toys 4 Tots wish list and keep coming to a dead end. I also have called Catholic Charities, and Salvation Army leaving messages but not hearing back. I wasn't aware of this site until a friend sent me the link letting me know about it. Any advice would be helpful and much appreciated. We live in Orange County, California.

Hi C. :)

First, CONGRATULATIONS for your strength and your courage in leaving your son's father. You've ABSOLUTELY done the right things and you've taught your son an invaluable lesson in love :). I'm proud of you! :) I pray more women would have your strength!

Now, getting down to business, where abouts in OC do you live? I live there, too. I have a son who just turned 3 at the end of July. I can only imagine what his wishlist for both his birthday and Christmas must be! Please have him make one if he hasn't already and I will do all I can to help you make both occasions so very special. Also, if you are in need of clothes, I can provide you with some nice ones :).

I will send you my email and get back to me as soon as you can about what he'd like. Is there anything you are in need of?

Please be strong and continue to honor yourself! It might feel difficult around the holidays, however you have opened a most magnificant door for better than you have ever imagined possible for yourself! :)

Love and hugs~
J.

Hi C.,

I am sorry that this year is going to be hard. If you listen to KROQ Kevin in the morning and his wife have a organization Friends and Helpers, that is for abused women and their children for gifts for Christmas. Here is the web site www.friendsandhelpers.org. They help kids get toys.

Good luck, and god bless you.

Leah

C.,

I'm thankful that you've managed to find the strength to get out of an abusive relationship for the sake of both your son and yourself. Have you tried Human Options? Their number is (877) 854-3594 and web address is www.humanoptions.org They specialize in helping women and children from abusive situations. Families Forward is also a great organization.

Hi C.,
I'm sorry this Christmas is going to be difficult for the two of you.
I also live in Orange county...I don't know what city you live in, but I know my North Orange county city does do the Christmas thing for kids. I suggest you call your city hall and ask if anything is available through your city.
Good luck, and let us all know if you find something.

I just looked up Toys for Tots on the internet and the request for toys is right there on the website. You can also look up the chapter closest to you and get their phone numbers. I would have looked those up for you, but I don't know where you live.

You may also want to look up local moms club in your area, I happen to know that the individual clubs help out local families in their communities.

Talk to the people at you son's doctor office too.

I know that you will find what you are looking for if you are persistant. There are a lot of people out there who would be overjoyed to bring some happiness to your son on Christmas. And probably you too.

Hey C.,
Have you contacted the Sheepfold? They help Moms and their children who are in need and have been in abusive relationships with a place to stay, etc. God bless you for making this Christmas a safer one for you and your child. Such courage and strength from one so young. I'm so very proud of you. Have a wonderful Thanksgiving and Christmas darlin, you and your little son. I'm going to send you a private email as well.
Love and blessings,
V.
