Silly Stories Theme - Need Book Ideas

Our new curriculum theme is "silly stories". The curriculum came with "Caps For Sale" and we also found a silly halloween book but my daughter is very into serious books, so that's mostly what we have. We mostly have books that are meant for older kids or they just aren't silly. She's into astronomy, brains, or factual books. We also have a ton of books dealing with fear, animal facts, etc. Soooooo, anywho. We are looking for "silly" books. We have some Suess, but I'm looking for something that they aren't familiar with to keep them interested. I teach 5 girls ages 4 and 5 if that counts. :) The more physically involved they can get, the better!

What can I do next?

Doreen Cronin has several silly stories about barnyard animals like Click, Clack, Moo-Cows that type and several other titles with the same characters. They are pretty funny even for adults!
Can you use poetry? Jack Prelutsky and Shel Silverstein have great rhymes that are outrageously silly and funny. They would be easy to put to actions too.

You might consider getting some study guides to go with your books. They often will have projects to go with the books. Also, check letteroftheweek.com, which also has projects/crafts to go with the various books they recommend. I can't think of any silly books right now. My brain is tired. Sheep in a Jeep is pretty funny/silly. The Mercer Mayer books are cute with subtle humor in them. Enjoy!

The Amelia Bedelia stories are silly. I don't know if they're too old for 4 and 5 tho. I think my granddaughter enjoyed them at that age.
