I know this is goofy, but my daughter has started to do something really funny...whenever she starts laughing real hard it sets her off into SUPER-hiccups! It's sooo cute and I'm just guessing it's her diaphragm spazzing out and figuring out this laughter business (she just starting laughing about three weeks ago). I was just wondering if anyone else's little cuties are doing the same thing? haha =)

What can I do next?

My daughter is almost 4 and she still does this. Usually when she is being tickled for an extended period of time.
It is so great when you hear that kid laughter!

J.,

Long, Long tiume ago there was no real medical reasoning. This was 30 years ago. I have been living with it all that time and jsut learned to accept it. Hopefully it will jsut be a phase for you and your cutie.

Hi J.,

What may be cute now might actually be mildly annoying to painful later on. Might want mention it to your pediatrician next time you see him/her. There may be a breathing exercise you can do with her.

You also didn't state your daughter's age. I'm assuming a baby... nursing might get rid of the hiccups (you may also get bitten... ow!) or offering a bottle with room temperature water to suck on. But watch her closely, you don't want her to choke.

Hiccups are kinda like being tickled. Even though you're laughing, all you want is for it to stop. It's probably no big deal, but when I was younger, I had a classmate suffer from hiccups... it wasn't fun, nor funny as it would go on for hours or several bouts a day.

Yep! Both of my girls. They both outgrew it at a very young age.
