Shark Steam Mop

Hello . . .I know I am SOOOOO 44 years old to be excited about a steam mop . . but I had to recommend this to moms - especially ones with crawling babies! My kids got me the Shark Steam mop for my birthday - (I had asked for something more like an electric broom) and was hesitant - but I LOVE this thing, especially since ALL THREE of my boys love to use it to mop my tile floors!

It cleans with hot steam and dries almost immediately, and you toss the pad (that velcros on the bottom) into the washer. NO lugging a bucket, or rinsing the mop, or waiting for floors to dry. It SANITIZES and just feels SO CLEAN - and I wish I'd had one when my babies were crawling. I am going to start giving them to new moms as a shower gift! A little pricey - (Mine was from Kohls and was $92, so if I was buying myself I'd watch for a sale .)

Just wanted to let you know! Have any of you used this? I love mine!

thanks for the tip. I have an Oreck orbiter. The scrub brush is awesome, but drying up the puddles is not so fun. I'll keep my eye out for the shark...

Thanks for the wonderful advice! We have white tile floors, and in my husband's words: "every single crumb looks like a boulder!" And the floor always looks dirty. When it is clean, it looks wonderful. I think that I want new flooring, but having had this white floor, I know that other flooring only LOOKS cleaner. The white just tells on itself!

not so thrilled. It seems to just push the dirt into the corners (despite the sweeping beforehand). But it does feel clean in a way and I like the fact that I don't have to haul the bucket around anymore.

Oh wow! I want one of those things so bad, they look awesome and my little one is always on the floor playing! Thanks for sharing, I just found out these things even exist just last weekend but I thought that I would have to order online. I am going to Kohl's today to check it out! Does yours steam clean problem areas in your carpet with a different attachment?

I have seen the commercials and it had crossed my mind to look into it.

But as anyone knows........tried and true method...WAIT FOR SOMEONE's HONEST APPROVAL!!

Now you really have me considering this thing.

I am currently 8 months expecting and I have tile floors. And we have a huge 90 pound puppy. So I am already starting to get concerned when this one starts to crawl.

THANKS for the referral! I will def start to look out for sales!

Thanks for the info. I had been looking at a ton of them and was wondering which would be best. My wet jet stopped working so I've been using the good ole mop which is so time consuming!!! I've been trying to save for a Dyson but I wish I could get something for less $$$$ that worked well for stairs. I want bagless so if you have a recommendation let me know ladies!!!! I have an Oreck and it has lost some suction!!

I currently live in France but I used this just a week ago. My mother-in-law purchased it for herself and let me try it out. The thing is absolutely lovely! It cleans just about ANYTHING.
I too used it on my floors which are linoleum. I have always had trouble with my floor being dirty no matter how often I mopped or swept, but with this thing it was just a steam over and I could see how black my floors truly were (quite shocking, I like to think I keep a clean house) I would definitely recommend it.

Hi A.-

Isn't it just fantastic!! I actually have the Bissell Steam Mop but I feel the same way that you do about it. My 3rd is just now starting to crawl so it's been wonderful. I just wish I had it for the first two.

I have a Hoover and I bought it with birthday gifts. That's when I knew I was old! ha! I love mine too. We're in construction and so I've been using the old fashioned mop - not wanting to ruin my nice one. I know my floors are dirty. It's amazing how clean your floors are with the other! I'll keep the Shark one in mind if I ever buy a new one. I like the idea of washing the pad. I don't wash anything - but change the water. My husband and sister thought I was nuts to spend my birthday money on a mop - but I don't regret it!

We got the "regular" Shark at Bed Bath & Beyond for $75! It works great! After tiling our whole house, I started to wonder if it had been a good idea. Then we got the Shark, now all is well!!!

Loved your tip. Our entire house is tile, so I may check this out.
The other way you can keep your floors cleaner is to go "shoe free" in your house. Think of all the stuff you walk through in stores and parking lots...yuck! I even make workers who come to our house cover their shoes with medical scrubs shoe covers. (I'm sure the Time Warner guys last week thought I was nuts, but my floors sure stay clean!)
I started this near-obsessive need for a cleaner floor because my middle son has special needs and was crawling until age 3 1/2.
Happy mopping! (especially if the guys are doing it!) ;)

Hey! Thanks for the recommendation! I've been wondering about those steam mops. They always look too good to be true. I have alot of tile floors that I hate to clean, so I've been thinking about buying one and didn't know which one. I knew they were about $100 and didn't want to waste money on one if they were hokey. Thanks again.

Yeah, I saw the preview of the president just yesterday while in the hair salon. I want to invest in one for myself and being an avid Kohls shopper, I will make a visit there today since it's Labor weekend and sales there and everywhere for that matter are just inevitable to pass up.

I am glad to hear that it really works like he proclaims it does. You're absolutley correct lugging buckets and heavy mops was wearing on me. Although, being a 36 yr old mom of 1 made me exhausted after cleanings. I am looking forward to purchasing the Shark Steam Mop. I can't wait unitl Xmas nor my B-day. I want it NOW! LOL!!!!!

Ooooo. That sounds great! My kids are 8 and 5 and they love to help me with the floors. With a mop and bucket, it can get a bit . . . soggy. The steam mop sounds great and easy!

On the subject of floors, my hubby bought us a Dyson when my youngest was born. It's been SO wonderful. Especially the day that the kids decided to make it "snow" in my youngest's room. They used a NEW, large container of baby powder to create the blizzard effect. The Dyson came to the rescue AND didn't burn up in the process!

Love floor stuff!

I was interested to read your comment! Doesn't the dirt still go everywhere as it's on the bottom of a mop? Do you have to replace the pads or can you throw them in the wash? I'm interested in this product, but not brave enough to spend the money yet.

Did you get the Deluxe Steam or the regular one? I have tile floors and hardwoods. I noticed at Bed Bath and beyond they have both models and am not sure which one to get. Any suggestions??? I have the 20% off coupon and am dying to get one!
