Severe Problems Caused by Lack of Medical Evidence

I have a son, who recently after suffering from a cold for a couple of weeks was taken into hospital because he was vomitting blood, we were in hospital for a week but he only vomitted the blood on day 1. After that he was dribbling blood, especially in his sleep. He had cameras put any were they will go to find the cause of this blood and all we were told is that he seems perfectly healthy. The blood slowly subsided over the week and eventually stopped. But we were told we could not discharge him as they were suspicious that we may have either caused or faked the bleeding, and now we are under scrutiny as parents because they could not find the cause of this bleeding. Has anyone encountered anything similar and if so, do you have any suggestions, the situation is becoming quite serious.

S.,

I can't help you with the DCF issue. I do recommend a lawyer. Don't be h*** o* the medical staff. They are required by law to report anything supicious. If you read the papers & what people do, it hardens them. People to awful things to other people, kids & animals- some strange reasons.

As far as the bleeding- is he cutting teeth?. Did they scope his nasal passages? Even though he vomited- irritation from sinuses- not causing a nose bleed, could show up in the vomit.

Good luck

PLEASE make sure you have a good long conversation with the social worker assigned to your case with a lawyer present. Find out exactly what law they are following that leads them to believe they can keep your son in the hospital.

As for the medical situation, you have the right to get a second opinion. Find a good pediatric GI that can review your son's case. it could be that the coughing from the cold irritated the esophagus, stomach or upper small intestine to cause the bleeding. As I am no medical professional, I am only guessing!

How in the world could you have faked the bleeding in your son? This makes no sense! Some piece of vital information is missing in this scenario!

Best wishes,

K.

this doesn't make any sense to me, but if you haven't done anything wrong, then you have nothing to worry about. just thank God the bleeding has stopped and continue doing the right thing as parents. the authorities will see this and it should all work out fine. it amazes me how they pick on the good parents and then don't do anything about the truly dangerous ones who leave their kids in a hot car!

is there anyway you could get another opinion or two on that? (if thats possible at a hospital.) i know all to well what its like to be investigated when theres no "wrong doing. its definately not fun, but when theres a case of "no wrong doing" you shouldnt have anything to worry about as far as that goes. how old is you son? could he have maybe ingested something dangerous? just a thought. mom of one son as well.

Get a lawyer now. This is not a time to wait to see what happens. Plus, you probably need a second opinion, medically speaking.

The best thing to do with DCF is stand up to them. Regardless of what the Drs say he is still your son. Research your rights. Go to a lawyer for a consultation.
When we had to deal with DCF they did not step one foot into our house regardless of the fact they actually called the police on us. It took some heavy manuvering on their part before they were even allowed to talk to one of my children and it was not alone. They gave up thier bullying after having to deal with us informed parents twice.
As far as the bleeding if he had a bad cough with his cold it could be the irritation mentioned by the last poster. That happened to a friend of mine once.

Hope he is feeling better and that your lives can return to normal.

Did they check his sinus and nose passage? Take him to a Gastro and have him checked out. It could be something the hospital over looked. I was vomitting blood and the doctor couldn't find anything wrong but the Gastro found a hiatal hernia causing the blood. It only happened when I drank orange juice.

If you are in the Orange County, FL area I can recommend the absolute BEST juvenile dependency attorney who specializes in dealing with the state and authorities in such cases. He is amazing and has been doing this so long that he has excellent relationships with the area DCF and court system and may be able to help nip this in the bud. Send me an email at ____@____.com if you'd like his name and contact info. (Reasonable rates as well, not that that matters when your child is at stake.)
