Seeking Someone to Train With

Hi, I've just resumed running competitively and for my first event, I'm going to run the 5K Wrigly Run near Lincoln Park Zoo on April 19th. Anyone interested in running it? I don't have anyone to train with, and running on a treadmill is boring. I'm currently pacing at 10:30/ mile on a 5K, but I'm gaining 15 min. each day. My goal is to run it under 30:00.

I live in Westchester, near Oak Brook, and looking for someone nearby to "stroller" train during the day.

Thank you for all the responses so far. :)

What can I do next?

J.--

I love on the South Side near Hyde Park, but I am a runner, and I would LOVE to find a running partner. I have done three marathons, and plan to train for one next spring. I am currently pregnant with twins, so I have been banned from running. As soon as my pregnancy is finished, I plan on hitting the trail again. If we could stay in touch, I could train with you in the fall. I would do a 5K to get back into the swing of things.

Hi J.,

I am not an avid runner, but I wanted to let you know that I also belong to the Chicago SAHM (Stay At Home Mom) Group. You should think about joining - there are tons of great meet-ups. Right now there is a big group actually training for a 5K run. Check it out! Here is a link to the site: http://sahm.meetup.com/1151/

Hope to see you at a meet-up sometime and good luck with the run!

Hi J., I'm L. and in the Naperville area. I've just signed up to MamaSource this weekend in an attempt to branch out and meet new people. I've done a 5K once before and enjoyed the "completion" of it. I'm not fast but I get bored within 10-12 of the cardio machines too. I'm only available to run in the evenings Mon-Wed or before the sun thinks about coming up Tues-Thurs. I've got my 6-year old son the other times. Any who, not sure if my schedule would be the most ideal but thought I would throw it out there just in case. See ya around ~L.~

Hi J., I am in the Naperville area and am signed up for the same 5K on April 19th. My college room mate and I are running together- but she lives in the city and I have never actually ran with her. I generally run outside in the evenings (when the weather is nice) and I also have a treadmill. I just started running for exercise in Oct. last year and I don't actually know my pace or anything like that- all I know is that I usually run for about 35-50 minutes and get about 3-5 miles in. Let me know if you are interested in getting together a few nights a week to run.
Good luck and I'll see you at the race! --A.

Hi,

I don't think I can be ready for April 19 but I just signed up to do the zoo 5K on June 1 and have been training a little bit. I have a 15 month old son too and another mom (she has and 11 1/2 month son)and I have talked about training together. We might be a little behind you but could definitely meet up once or twice a week to run together.
I wouldn't say that I'm extremely competitive but I do enjoy doing races to keep myself motivated.
I live in Lincoln Park. You?
