Does anyone have any recommendations for a good ob/gyn within the St. Pete/Clearwater area? Because we are military, we need someone who will accept Tricare. Thanks in advance for any suggestions! I'd also appreciate if anyone might have suggestions in terms of hospitals with recommended birth facilities.

What can I do next?

Dr. Kimberly Biss is an excellent OB/GYN. Not sure if she accepts Tricare, but she should be in the phonebook. I was very happy with Bayfront. I have a 13 Mth. old son.

I second Contemporary Women's Care. I go to the Seminole location and I love them. Nancy is my favorite mid-wife (she delivered my daughter and was wonderful).

Also, Morton Plant in downtown Clearwater was a great place to deliver at. Everyone was so friendly and helpful. The facilities were spotless. Overall, it was just a great birthing experience.

Have you tried Contemporary Womens Center in Clearwater? They also have a Seminole Office.

I used to work for the Baycare Call Center, which is a group of the best hospitals in the area. They have a physician referral service that will look up Board Certified Physicians that will accept your insurance. You will get to speak to a live operator who will give you all of the background information about the doctor. This isn't a telemarketing thing, I really used to work for them before leaving to stay home with my daughter. Call ###-###-####

Good luck,

IF you plan on going to the hospital to have your baby, then I highly recommend Morton Plant Mease in down town Clearwater. They have awesome birth facility! ONe of the top in the country. If you are planning on going natural and up for a birthing center, you should look in to birthing center in Dunedin. For the Love of Birth. They are AWESOME. I highly suggest this route over the hospital.I've wonderful experiences with both of my children, but if I could go back, I would never go to the hospital to have my babies again. I know the birthing center takes medicaid so I would assume they would take Tricare. They really get to know you and there is no waiting in the waiting room. I sat and talked to the mid-wife for over an hour one time. They listen, don't judge, and educate you. You will not find more personal care anywhere else! They know you by name when you walk in the front door. Your children and come with you too(if you want), they have a play area for them as well. Good luck!

Well I can tell you not to go to the Lerner, McCance, Rudolph and Associates. Excuse my language but there assholes there. I guess the expect someone to know everything about pregnancy. It is my first and i have lots and lots of questions. They make me feel like they don't have time. For example...one time when I went it, they were getting ready to listen to the heartbeat and I asked for them to call my MOm back and the dr was like "UGh, well I'm short on time"....I was like "Excuse me???" But, I have alot (alot) of things I have to take care of plus I only have till May!!!! Also I am delivering at Morton Plant they are one of the 50 best hospitals. Do NOT deliver at bayfront or St. Pete General. St. Pete is a Germ infested hospital and bayfront..LOL I'd deliver the baby myself before i went there. hope you don't think I'm well you know a ____@____.com&. Just had a rough day and I know it's important to feel "welcome" in a Dr's office. good luck!!
