In 2001 I had my tubes tied. In May of 2004 Eric was born. My Dr. said it's not 100% and it happens about once a year in their office (there a 5 Dr.s in that practice).

Hi V.,
Yes absolutely! Two of my best friends have. One of them had her tubes tied right after her second baby. Her plan was just to havea boy and a girl. She got lucky. But a year and half later, she got pregnant. The same happened with another girlfriend of mine. After our youngest son was born, my husband and I decided that three boys were enough and that I wanted my tubes tied. He was very supportive of it. Then I surprised him to get a vesectomy himself...lol...He did. According to the doctors, there is a greater risk of the female to get pregnant even after her tubes are tied. But if the male decides to have a vesectomy atop the female's tubes tied, the risk of getting pregnant is zero to none. Which means there may still be a chance for a female to get prenant but chances are very very slim to never :) After seeing what happened to both of my girlfriends, it was an idea to have the both of us undergo the procedure...

Okay...mea culpa...I haven't had my tubes tied but I read the q anyway.

Yup. I know 3 women (from the clinic I worked in) who got pregnant after having their tubes tied...and one that is a friend of my mothers. In all 4 cases the tubes were cut and cauterized, but the tubes actually healed & regrew to meet the other ends in 3 of the cases and one was a "mystery". AKA the tubes were still cauterized on the ovarian end...but were healed open on the uterean end. How the egg managed to survive and float all the way through a hostile environment and THEN make it into the single open uterean tube is the mystery...but Jake is 10 now.

I'm a biased example...working in a clinic will do that. It's statistically rare, but statistically rare never means impossible.

Hi V.,

I had my tubes tied about 8 years ago and it was fantastic. I took Friday off work and was back at work by Monday.

I know of no one who has had this procedure done correctly and gotten pregnant (be sure to find an experienced surgeon). If you're in the Northern Nevada area, I can recommend the surgeon I used.

Good luck!

I had my tubes tied, clamped, cut and cauterized. If you are SURE you don't want any more, get the works. Mine have been done for 16 years. I haven't had a minutes worry.

Hi V., I also have 6 children... a 16,14,11,9,5,4!!!!They are a blessing from the Lord. I had my tubes tied after the birth of my last baby, 4 years ago. I have had no problems at all, my period is normal, no pain, and no worries about getting pregnant again. Not unless God wants us to have another baby... we would be happy to welcome him. Nothing is 100%, but I will tell you that I never kept up with counting days or taking pill. well with your tubes tied you dont have to worry about it. Oh, but I have heard of women having a baby after the procedure, the Dr. did warn me that it could happen... Its just too challenging raising kids in these days to have any more. well, God bless you!!!

I have my tubes cut and tied in 1979. I was told that pregnancies have happened, however, I was not one of them. I had this procedure done right after giving birth to my now 29 yr old son. I had no side effects from the procedure and have had no problems. I am now 53 yrs old and still going strong? If you decide to have this done, it still takes your body 3 yrs to heal, so as long as the doctor does everything right you will have no problem. I hope this helps.

Hi V.,
I had my tubes tied 2 and a half years ago and I haven't had any "accidents"... I've never heard of anyone else having any either... after reading the responses below though, I guess it really does happen! Wow, news to me. I thought it would only happen if the doctor's messed up... but 2 friends, wow, I wonder if they had the same doctor. Good Luck

Hi V., I had my tubes tied 14 yrs ago after my son was born. I never had a problem with the procedure or has my friends that had the same thing. I haven't myself heard of anyone getting pregnant with this procedure. I think it is the easiest and with no worries. Good Luck with your decision and sounds like you have a wonderful family. M.
