Hi Ladies, I am at a lost. My husbands best friend is getting re-married in just a little over a week and my husband and I have no idea as to what to get as a wedding gift for the happy couple. Since this is both their second marriage they have pretty much everything. We were thinking about getting them a certificate to a spa so that they could be pampered, but my husband fears his friend will not like it so much. When we got married they gave us a nice china srving platter, something we did not have. We have tried consulting with the grooms sons but they are men and also have no clue. We want the gift to convey how much they mean to us, but also be something they don't already have. Any suggestions would be greatly appreciated. Thanks in advance.

What can I do next?

So What Happened?

Thank you everyone for all the really wonderful idea's. We decided to go ahead and get American Express cards, (actually my husband decided that). With the wedding being only 6 days away we were a little afraid to try and order anything. I am going to keep all these wonderful idea's for the next blessed event. Thanks again for comming throgh for me, it's nice to know there are friends out there that take the time to help another person out. May all of you have a wonderful day.

A gift certificate to Pampered Chef is always a popular choice in this instance :)

I'm not sure how much you want to spend, but my hubby and I are on our second marriage and when we got hitched, we took our wedding gift money and went to Vegas--it was great. We aren't much of gamblers either. We visited sites like Red Rock Canyon, toured hotels, shopped, and went to shows. There was something for each of us to enjoy. I can't wait until we go back. I've heard there are many discount packages now available due to the state of the economy. I'd check into it.

Just my 2 cents,

M.

What about a Hotel Pkg or a Bed & Breakfast. They might enjoy a weekend away.

When we got married, friends gave us a six month subscription to a monthly wine club. It was a great gift - every month we received two bottles of wine in the mail, and would think of them, and have interesting bottles of wine to try. If they are wine drinkers, its a nice gift!

Gift certificate to a nice local restaurant and/or a weekend getaway package at a resort or hotel would be nice.

Go to nameframe.com or .net, I forget which. Anyway, they have very unique frames that you can spell out their last name using different objects to represent a letter. I bought my husband one for our 5 year anniversary. Everyone who sees it loves it! And the price range is from $50-200+.
Good luck!

Hi L.. I have an idea for you for your husband's friend's wedding gift. I just recently did a pencil portrait for one of my friend's new baby...it's the perfect gift! A little expensive but worth it for a special event. Visit: www.miketheuer.com to see his work. I am having him do the portrait and then I will have it double-matted and professionally framed. All you need to do is obtain a digital photo of the happy couple and attach it to your request. It doesn't have to be a perfect picture because Mike just centers his work around the subjects. I don't think you'll be disappointed and it will be a gift that they will have and display forever! Good luck!

Are they going on a honeymoon? If so, can you get a gift card to the hotel or a nearby restaurant. Or maybe a gift card to a favorite restaurant of theirs.

Two things I just got for my son and my new daughter-in-law. that I think they will enjoy in a few years. The first is a time capsule that you are supposed to fill with things from your first year of marriage. Then you choose a date that you will open it i.e. 5 years, 10 years etc. I am planning on getting a nice bottle of wine that will age well and putting that together. The other is a book called wedded bliss. It's kind of like a baby book for couples for the first 10 years of marriage. Question sheets, places for pictures etc. If you google wedded bliss, you should be able to find the website. They will engrave the names on the cover of the book. Wasn't real happy with that because it doesn't show up very well. There's my ideas....Good Luck!!
