Seeking Good Vacuum

My husband and I are moving into a new apartment with pergo hardwood floors. I am looking for a good, quiet vacuum. We have an 11 month old so alot of food will be spilled on the floor so I need something that will pick up big stuff too. Any suggestions?

What can I do next?

Oreck has the BEST electric broom that is great for hardwoods. It is basically a base like a vacuum and has a dustbuster that attaches to it to make it run electrically. It is small and quiet. I think it's a little pricey but I know Oreck has service agreements and everything. Check it out!

I'm afraid I don't have any good ideas about vacuums--all of the ones I've ever used except our now built-in vacuum were very noisy. Have you thought about using the Swiffer system since you have a Pergo floor? We had Pergo in our kitchen of our last house, and that seemed to be quick and easy, whether it was "dusting" it or wet cleaning it.

What I do have is a great work-at-home opportunity that is very inexpensive to start and is doing well, even in this ecomony (which is hard to do). It is also helping people save money!! I'd love to get together and tell you about it! Let me know your schedule, and we can work something out.

I love my Dyson. I know they're a little pricey but I've had it for 5 years with absolutely no problems. I use it everyday to clean up after my 16 month old. Plus, it will pick up anything. It's not super quiet though.

I just bought a Swivel Sweep, it's not a vaccuum, but a floor sweeper. But it's great for keeping around the baby's eating area. It's battery operated, costs only $35 at Target, and picks up those little spills on the spot. I use mine for picking up dog hair. You just dump it out after every use. We have tile floors, and every vaccuum I tried was just too noisy, especially with a husband who has to sleep during the day!
