Hi Moms,

I recently moved to LA and am looking for a female OB/GYN in West LA/Santa Monica area that accepts insurance. I currently have Aetna PPO. Also, I know this my stir some controversy and I am not looking for judgement, but I had an abortion about a year ago (something that I completely REGRET is so many ways) and I need to find a dr that is going to be open and accepting. I am concerned that having had the abortion will cause me to have trouble conceiving in the future and I am having trouble forgiving myself and need a dr that I can discuss this openly with. Any suggestions?

What can I do next?

Not sure about which insurance she takes, but she's great.

Don't beat yourself up over the abortion. (I know that's impossible.) Most women I know have had at least one and they are all good people. Life hands you tough decisions, and women have some extra tough decisions to make since we are the half of the population who gets pregnant. There is no reason that you would not be able to carry a child as long as you had a doctor perform the procedure. I had one when I was 22 and conceived easily at 37. I can tell you having had an abortion and having given birth, that it is much, much tougher on your body to give birth. But a doctor can take a peek and put your mind at ease that you are still a candidate for motherhood whenever the next time comes along. I am sending you a great big virtual hug.

I have the best OBGYN in the world! She puts the mom's care in the top priority. She sees OB patients on Sundays, if you can't make it there during the week, and she delivers every single baby herself-- no holidays. My husband and I can't say enough nice things about her. She does NOT take insurance, however, but her charges are very reasonable (same fee for both c-section or vaginal). So in case you change your mind about the insurance, and just want to go with someone who is excellent:) here is her info -

I work with quite a few wonderful OB/GYNs in West LA/Santa Monica -- I don't know if who accepts Aetna PPO, but you can call and ask. These are all open and accepting doctors :)

Here's my short list ... if none of them take your insurance, let me know and I'll send you the long list!
