Does anyone know of a reputable business that offers affordable plantation shutters? A friend told me that she was quoted $900 just for two windows. Is that price accurate? Sounds really expensive to me.

The bad news is that plantation shutters are, in general, expensive. This is because they are custom-made to fit your window. The good news is that there are many businesses in town that you can shop around for the best deal.
Have you tried Home Depot? I ordered regular faux wood blinds from them and room darkening shades and they were the cheapest. Of course, you have to go see them, they don't come to your house.

JCPenney! I always buy any window coverings I need here. If you are not in a giant hurry watch for the big sales, which they do quite often. They will have 60% off plus additional 10% or even more. I see you are in Frisco and I have always worked with Talot in window coverings in the Stonebriar JCP. she is excellent and can also give you other less expensive options if plantation shutters are out of your price range.
