I currently have a great daycare provider 3 days a week, however in the fall I will need a new daycare provider. Does anyone out there have an in home daycare that does not accept a lot of children at once? Would anyone recommend a daycare (such as chesterbrook)? My daughter will be 3 this month and my son is 1, except he has a heart condition which is stable. I am a little nervous about putting him in a large daycare environment. Thank you in advance.

What can I do next?

I live in Aurora and I am expecting a baby in Sept. I am currently a nanny and thinking about starting to watch children in my home after the baby gets here. I have worked as a case manager and also as a therapist assistant for children with disabilities and delays. So I do have some knowledge about children who need extra attention. I'm not sure how much you are wanting to spend on childcare, but I am currently making $15/hour and would need to stay in that same range. Let me know if this sounds like something that might work for you.

J.-

My son goes to adventures in Learning in Aurora. They have 3 locations, 2 in aurora, 1 in Naperville and 1 in Oswego that just opened. I don't know too much about the other locations but the one on Shoreline is WONDERFUL! I looked at many and this one I just knew was the one. It is so clean! I walked through so many and they were just so messy looking and un-organized looking. You should really do a tour I promise that you will be pleased! Ask for Maureen, she is the director. Tell them that Michael H's mom sent ya! Good luck! This was the hardest thing for me to do but I am so glad that I did because they have really helped make him a very smart and respectful little boy! Feel free to ask any questions.

J., A home daycare will be your best bet with a child with heart condition. I did home daycare for about 15 years. I stopped when we moved from aurora to Montgomey in 2001. My own kids had a lot of school activities going on and I didn't want to miss them. My youngest is now in Junior high and I am considering going back into daycare. my email is ____@____.com. email me if you want as I may be able to answer some questions. My mom has done licensed daycare since 1970. she now has the grandchildren of some of the children she took care of. I have had children of children I cared for. Email me if you want and we can see if I can help you.

I have a small home daycare in Bolingbrook. At the present
time I have only 2 children, but am looking to increase that
number if possible back to about 5. I have over 20 years of
experience and great references.
I am a little concerned about your son with the heart condition. Does he require special care or medications? I
have cared for children with asthma, but you would have to tell me exactly what to watch for in case you son needed medical attention. We could talk about it.
I agree that a large daycare environment might not be good for
your son. The more children, the more germs! I know families
who went to Chesterbrook and thought it was a pretty good
daycare, however, it does have a lot of children. Good Luck.
