We do secret santa at work each year, and this year I am at a loss for ideas! Normally I have some great ones. I think I am just not fully in the mood yet....

So what is your most favorite/memorable secret santa gift you have received? We are to spend no more than $5 per gift for 5 gifts and then about $10 for our final "big" gift. All women in the exchange.

In the past I have done things like hand cream, stationary, wine, books, starbucks coffe w mug, gift cards. I want something creative!

What can I do next?

Eddie Bauer had some inexpensive Pedometers on sale... IF you have walkers in the group, they might enjoy one of those.. If not, always a good re-gift :)
Personally, I am always on the hunt for a unique set of Christmas lights that no one else may have...

One year my husband received (and still loves and uses) this snap-on device for glasses.. it snaps on the little sun-shade upfront in a car ... it's come in hand because he keeps his sunglasses in it and when driving and it's sunny/glaring, he always knows where to find the glasses.. It's a great find.. I think the person found it out a Walgreens or CVS..

Good luck

The most memorable gift I recall in our office was all the ingredients for margaritas. First day was salt, second day was limes, third day was a glass, fourth day another glass, and finally a botle of the mix. Could do something similar for another kind of drink like a martini, or ingredients to bake a really nice cake with the 'big' gift being a fancy cake pan. How funny would it be to receive a dozen eggs the first day!

My favorite little thing I have gotten that I use all the time is one of those key light things that you can attach to your key chain. R.E.I. had several last year when I bought a bunch for stocking stuffers. The best ones are the ones that have a little on/off switch so someone with less grip in their fingers can just switch it on instead of holding it on. The ones that you hold on aren't bad and are under $5. The switch on kind is probably around $10.

Also, go to TJ Maxx, Marshalls, Best Buy, Office Depot, and Bed, Bath and Beyond, etc. and look at their displays by the check out. They usually have some really cool ideas.

i'm hyjacking your post.

I'll tell you what NOT to give.

today I had a box from my secret santa, I unwrapped it, and saw a box that garbage trash bags some in, unwrapped that and in side Wrapped in papertowels ( Not tissue paper) were a regular pen, ( just a plain old bic, a mini can of soda ( maybe from someones airline flight or can you buy those?) and a cookie cutter that looked like the sprinkles hadn't been washed off from the last time the person used it.

If i have just blown my alias by posting this OH WELL that was a sucky gift secret Santa. a regular can of soda alone would actually have been great! a Pack of pens alone would have been great, but your USED unclean cookie cutter--NOT COOL!

What about just wandering around hallmark and looking for some cute little things there? how much is an EASY Button??

OOOO I love secret santa. Our office we draw names and the person provides a list of likes and dislikes. I put running on mine and my secret santa gave me some great thorlo running socks, cute office supply gift basket and a yummy candle. THis was, by far, one of the best secret santas I had because it was stuff I like and can use :)

This year I got my person a fun little theme gift groups. 1. take care of yourself = an eye mask and assortment of lavendar bath products 2. Treat yourself = split of champagne and godiva chocolates 3. Enjoy yourself = a mint green mixing bowl, red whisk, red towel (keep calm and bake on) and a mix of chocolate peppermint brownie mix.

These are all from her list of likes:)

I love Secret Santa too! Good ideas so far. I think it would be fun to do a little at-work something like a can of soda or water or a fancy iced tea or something and a little snack and a pack of gum. I agree with just wandering around Target or Walgreens and seeing what kind of funky things they have.

I like practical but fun. You can get a pocket tissue pack with winter pictures on them or a fun snowman pen or something that they can use at work, but still be festive. What about a roll of wrapping paper? Funny, especially if you wrap it in different wrapping paper, but fun and practical! I would love it! :)

Target has some basic gloves right now but they have a little fingertip thing that allows you to still use your smart phone...genius! I got some for myself! I don't remember how much they were, but probably around $5. They come in lots of colors too.

I've also gotten a windshield scraper before, which I thought was funny, but who knows if we'll even get any snow this year!

I like cooking and make fudge for everyone, including things like this. A nice scented candle, a journal/nice notebook & cute pen, snacks to keep at the desk (I liked getting granola bars, gum, and microwave popcorn), scarf/gloves, a small picture frame & fasteners for the cubicle wall, a CD with various fun pics that could be used as backgrounds on the computer, a mini eyeglass cleaning kit or computer screen cleaning kit
