My husband & I will be celebrating our 5th wedding anniversary in a couple weeks. I want to surprise him with a romantic hotel stay for the night, but we are on a limited budget. We already have dinner plans in W. Plano, so that's covered. Any ideas on a good place to stay that won't break my bank?

Thanks in advance!

What can I do next?

I dont know your area at all but have this suggestion.
A few years back we went out for our anniversary dinner. I had it all planned ahead of time without him knowing so when he asked where Id like to go, I already knew where. It was a lovely dinner, and we sipped wine, and talked and just enjoyed the whole time. When we were done, and ready to leave, I said, "oh by the way, I have a little gift for you" and handed him a small box with a bow. He opened it, and found a key to a room in the hotel upstairs. I had gone that morning and made a reservation and had already taken a small suitcase up to the room. I had a change of clothes and wine waiting for us. It was really neat seeing the look on his face and believe me, he was thrilled! So, if you dont want to spend a lot on a fancy hotel, you dont have to. This was your average run of the mill moderate priced hotel. It got the job done,,,,if you get my drift. (o:

I second the NYLO suggestion. Not a romantic location,(Preston & Legacy) but it is a very nice and the price is budget friendly. It is a loft and the rooms are not huge, but it is really cool and we loved staying there. They have a nice bar area and lots of outside lounge space too. Happy Anniversary!

I hear that the Gaylord Texan has anniversary packages that are less than $200 for the night. I'd give them a call. There is also The Grand Hotel in historic downtown Mckinney that would be nice. I hear they are going to renovate so you may get some screaming deals http://www.the-grand-hotel-mckinney.com/hotels/index/

If you are already going to be in W Plano (very nice) and if you are going the the Shops of Legacy...

Marriott at the Shops of Legacy is nice

Nylo is very nice, HOWEVER, the nightclub is very nice... the bad will get loud and the entire outside has music, etc. SO if you are not into that, make sure your room faces Preston and not the back yard area.

Aloft in Frisco is also supposed to be nice!

If you head downtown, ZaZa has romantic packages and it is very nice as well as the W, Crescent and Adolphus.

Sometimes a special occasion deserves the special expense. There's that new fancy hotel at Tollway and Legacy - is it NYLO? Looks different in a good way than your typical Hampton Inn. Does Frisco have a B&B?

You can go on priceline (makes me nervous, but we've done it once and it worked out fine) and put in a specific area you are looking for, and you can also say you only want 3 stars or more...or 4 stars or more, then name your price. You'd likely get something nice for at least a bit of a discount.
