Curious, If the police didn't see the video and no one seen anything how do you know who did it? Just asking...Smart move to change your locks. Keep your windows locked and warn your neighbors also. Honestly if the officer wanted the video he would not have left there without it. Sounds a little fishy to me. I agree with the ones that said to let the cops handle it. If you go getting more involved you could put you and your family in more danger. I wish you well.

First of all - no, the manager cannot keep evidence from the cops. Worst case scenario, the cop can obtain a warrant or subpoena for the video.

I'm wondering, though, how do you know what you know (black male, type of car, etc) if you did not see it happen, you did not see the video, and no one around there claims to have seen anything?? Are you just going off of what the cop told you has been happening? If so, it very well could be the same person, but it could just as easily be someone else doing committing the same crime. I'm not trying to attack your story, just curious where your details come from if you didn't see anything.

You can get a subpoena (right word?) from the court to get the video released. It is very fishy sounding that the manager wouldn't allow the cop to view it. Also, no, they cant put this info on the Amber alert system, that is reserved for missing children and elderly, but they could put up notices on the gas station and put it over the radio for police officers to get the guys info. You could also contact the media... I'm sure they would be interested to know the story and would like to dig on why the tape isn't being released.

If police want to see a video, they will get the correct info filed so they can see it.

Leave the police work to the police. You may mess things up if you step in and try to be a middle man.
