So What Happened?

My son's recovery was so easy! By the afternoon you wouldn't have even known he had surgery - I think his young age worked in his favor. Thanks for the help everyone!

My son has his adenoids removed and tubes put in his ears a year ago. He was very confused coming out of surgery and was quite sleepy the rest of the day. He had to take a drink before we could go home and that was a challenge. As soon as I got him home he pretty much slept all day waking up two times for like an hour and then still slept all night. I think the anesthesia was really tough on him.

His neck was sore for about a week, but our ENT said that was normal as they really have to pull the head way back to reach the adenoids. We just kepted him does on ibuprofen.

Good luck!

My4 year old just had his adnoids removed and tubes in his ears it was a short procedure we were thre maybe 3 hrs max and brought him home he was really sleepy he did wake up and threw up once at the hospital and another time at home after sleeping all day he woke up and ate some soup and acted as if nothing happened...the next day you would of never known this little boy had surgery. I understand how worried you are because I cried while he was in surgery but then again I cried for everything..lol good luck hope this eased your worries.

There's really not much to it. As other responders mentioned, it's mostly the grogginess/crankiness waking up from anethesia and probably he'll be sleepy that day.

My daughter had tonsils/adenoids removed at 8 years old and the adenoid thing didn't bother her a bit . . . it was her throat that really hurt! The hospital staff will tell you what he should/should not do.

My son had his tonsils and adenoids out at 21 months last Aug. We had to stay overnight because of his young age. Cranky while coming out of recovery, but otherwise fine. Just clingy. We had a few new toys to keep him calm. Good luck - it's not as bad as it seems. He has been GREAT since the surgery - all previous problems are gone.
