Recommendation for Kitchen Paint Color

S., Benjamin Moore Spanish Red...not too bright. I have used it for years in my home and my business; love it and get lots of compliments. I have the linen white by Benjamin Moore as my trim color; looks fantastic! Good Luck! Don't be afraid of red...it will look horrible the first coat, but keep going. May take three coats. You don't have that much wall showing in a kitchen, mostly cabinets and windows, etc...go for it; you will love it!

I think this is a hard decision when we cannot see the kitchen (Or the colors you are describing as even white has a few varying degrees. LOL!)... Depending on the counter space color, (any) window treatments and appliance colors, this should be taken into consideration as well as it does impact the final turnout of the project.

My trim is white, but it works with the color I have as it offsets the darker color perfectly.

I used Cabin Red by Eddie Bauer (Lowe's) I LOVE it. We have white trim. I think it's stunning. I could foward a picture if you like.

Leave the trim white, it will only make the color of the paint pop more. Keep in mind that if you are painting around the sink area or stove area, you might want to go with an eggshell finish because red will always streak when it gets around water or steam. Also keep in mind that you will probably have to do at least 3 coats to get the deep shade you are looking for. A primer tinted to your color will help.

Hi S., you have a lot of good responses here, one thing I'd like to add is to be sure the paint is semi-gloss. It's much easier to clean than flat, eggshell or even satin. Try to get grease off of any of those, lol. Most of all go with what you like. You're the one you're trying to please and have fun with it.

I love the burnt orange and terra cotta colors. Instead of true white, go with a creamy off white, something kind of in the beige family. Looks mostly like white, but not so harsh next to your new color. Makes a big differnce.

I know someone with that color and they used a creamy yellowish color for the trim....looks great .. definitely not white though :)

I really like stark contrasts...go for it!

I have a similar color in my kitchen and it looks GREAT!!! A very fun yet warm color and the white trim will probably really pop! We have oak trim that matches our cabinets and floor. I think the white will look great though!

We painted our bedroom in Benjamin Moore's Sedona Clay -- similar to Chili Pepper, but not as saturated. Our painter highly recommended going with a cream trim with such a warm color. We're so glad we did! I'll have to look up the color we used, but the combination is stunning. You might also want to ask the "experts" at your Benjamin Moore store.

Alpaca is the trim color we used. It looks pinkish if you google it, but there's no pink in it. It's a beautiful creamy off white.

I don't think it would look bad... The only thing I would do before I settle on a color is look into what the color does for you...

Tips like not to paint your bathroom green if you have flourescent lights since it will make your skin have a greenish tint in the mirror.

Perhaps get a test container of the paint. Paint a med piece of cardboard stock paper or thicker than notebook paper stuff and find a way to slide the edge of it under the trim. That way you can see it and live with it for a week or so before you say yes or no to the question of will YOU like it...:-)

Good luck... And "orange, reds, and yellow" is known to make you feel hungry... But thats from society. :-) Think of the signs of fast food restaurants... lol

I work for a Benjamin Moore retiler in Farmington so this is what I do all day. A creamy trim is a good idea, however, you should take into account the rest of the trim in your home as well as the colors in your kitchen. If your cabinets or appliances are white, then a creamy trim wouldn't look right.
As far as paint and finish, go with the Aura paint. It is more expensive than the other paints but it is worth it for two reasons. The first is that it covers over any surface, in any color, in two coats-guaranteed. The second reason is that it is washable in any finish. We have a matte finish and we have three boys-I can personally guarantee that you can wash anything off this paint even in a dull finish.

Oh, one other trick. If you make your cut-in line about a 1/4 inch lower than ceiling line, it is easier to do a straight line. You don't even realize that the edge of the paint doesn't go all the way to the ceiling.

I think it would look great - really makes the white trim pop. I currently have Benjamin Moore Burnt Russet in my kitchen and love it.

My name is K. and I too recently painted /redecorated my kitchen. Chili pepper red with white trim will just Pop and be Stunning!! (I suggest you use an eggshell finish in your paint....this makes wiping the walls so simple and you do not remove the paint color when you do wash the walls)

We used a Cheyenne pepper red (similar to chili pepper red) for our wood accents, the doors /trim and such and painted the walls a eggshell butter cream yellow. Then I added various colors of ivy green accents, with ivy stenciling for the art work on the walls. It turned out like a Tuscan Village Kitchen. I Love It!

Our ceilings are still flat ceiling white, which reflects the light great....you might want to consider doing the ceiling in a matching yellow always only use the 'flat' finish for ceilings....this softens the lighting in your kitchen.
