Hello Everyone,
My son will be 12 months in August and I'm introducing a few foods, but he still basically getting stage 3 foods. I'm not a cook and want to make sure my son gets the nutritional food he needs. Can anyone recommend a good cook book for young children.

What can I do next?

Naturally Delicious Meals for Baby by Gerri Hawes -- has GREAT healthy ideas babies + toddlers, plus lots of good tips.

First Meals by Annabel Karmel -- a great variety of recipes and good info, but I find the recipes in Hawes' book more appealing. Good to have a full arsenal though!

An outstanding one is Super Baby Food book. It is excellent although I do not agree with microwaving the food to warm the food for baby. I put the frozen food cubes in a glass custard cup set inside a pan with about 1/2 inch of water and heat on top of the stove. With a cover on the pot, it takes less than 5 min to heat 1-3 cubes.

Although there are many people who will disagree, there is also lots of information that consuming microwaved food is harmful to our bodies. Why take the chance? Don't use it! For years it was thought that plastic was safe to use with our food, and now evidence is being presented otherwise. So go with what is assured: heat food on top of the stove.

You will find that book a wonderful resource...it has very detailed info about everything you need to know, including recipes. I cant recall the author's name, and I dont have the book here with me to check. It has a purple cover!

Hi A.,

Have you heard about "Deceptivley Delicious" by Jessica Seinfeld. I've been hearing good things about it. I'm planning on getting it myself. Oprah just had her on her show the other day talking about her book and showing off some of the foods that are in the cook book. I can't wait to try it! Maybe, if you ask around, you'll find someone who's actually tried it so they can let you know a little more about it. Hope that helps! Good luck!
