Reasonable Pool Man

We just bought a house in Plano with a pool. Before we moved in theprevious owner purchased a new filter. He had a company come in every week to do weekly cleaning and maintance on it for $150. I thought it was a bit much and thought I could just clean it myself once I knew how.
After a few months I took water to Leslie's and they recomended a few chemicals. I also bought a poll sweep too and they told me how to use it. By the time we started trying to use it our filter wouldn't work any more. So now I have a very dirty pool! I don't know if I just need to clean the filter out or need to fix something? I don't want to pay someone a great deal. I just want someone to maybe show me how to clean and fix it myself for a reasonable price.

What can I do next?

I use Sobral Pool Services... Alex Sobral. Very nice, very reasonable. $60 per month for every other week cleaning, or $110/monthly for weekly service.

When we bought our house in plano our pool inspector also offered a service(for a fee) to show you how to use your pool equipment. I do not have his info now, but that may be a place for you to look. I feel your pain, it amazes me how much these pool companies charge!!

whatever you do DO NOT go through Leslies Pools. They will totally rip your off. I tried going through them once and was charged $55 because the guy had to leave my place to get a part he didnt have. This was on top for the charge for the actual part and an additiona $7.50 for gas.

I was so shocked it was all itemized on the invoice,it was totally crazy.

Try Jake at ###-###-####. He worked as a pool guy for a few years and may be able to help you. Tell him his sister C. gave you his number! :)

We've tried a few different pool services, and found most to be unreliable and expensive. The best we've found, and still use, is Bills' Pool Service. He shows up when he says he will, and you don't pay until he's done. His number is ###-###-####. Tell him the Proughs in Richardson recommended him.

Regards,
K.

James Martin at Pool Connection is great. We've used him off and on for 5 or 6 years. The good thing about him is he doesn't require a contract like many companies do. My husband does alot of our upkeep but is no pro and we do have occasional issues. James always comes to our rescue. We usually use him a month or two to get things under control and then quit and he's ok with that. Other companies we have looked at were less expensive per month but they required a 6 month contract at minimum. I think he is $150 per month as well but no contract. Other companies we looked at were under $100 per month with a contract. If you do contact James tell him Chris and G. Wuensche recommended him. His number is 940-497-SALT (he deals with salt water pools as well as regular. Good luck.
