Question for Deep/ Over-sized Mattress?

Hey Everyone out there~

Okay... I don't know about you, but I really love shopping at my favorite places such as Target or even Walmart for sheets for bedding. The price is just right especially now and it beats Ebay when I can see what I am looking at (and not pay shipping!).

My issue: I have an 'oversized' queen mattress (Kingsdown) that is at least 22" deep and requires deeper sheets than what these stores carry. I really despise that fact that Bed/Bath Beyond has them but for over $100~ it's ridiculous! I did score a deal at Ebay, but again, I want to save.

I am wondering if anyone out there has tried to use 'King' sized sheets for a mattress like this successfully? I really like flannel and cotton (preferably the organic ones I am seeing at Target - they feel wonderful and the price isn't that bad!).

Please let me know if you tried this or what you think? I am hoping that since cotton is 'stretchy' enough, that it might just work with the 'King' size and stay put without popping off!

Thanks in advance!

(I am asking as I just saw a new comforter set, and I am rather tired of the colors in my bedroom currently... Trying to make a switch without making it overly expensive!)

What can I do next?

We have an Kingsdown King size. I found the best sheets at Marshalls Super Store. I got 800 count egyptian cotton (like silk) for $70. I bought a pair of 1000 count cotton from Target and they do not even compare. I think anything over 600 ct. automatically is a deeper pocket, might be 400. But Marshall rocks - did you check Overstock.com? My girlfriend swears by them.

I also have kingsdown mattress that is deep. I have tried King size sheets, and they did not work, even with those strap things. We have the sheets with the deep pockets, and still need those strap things to make them stay on. I believe we got our sheets at Kohls. But like you already know they are not as cheap as Target.

Sometimes you can catch a good sale at JC Penney on sheets and use their coupons to get an additional discount. Not sure if the kings size would stay put on their own but they do make sheet clips that look like elastic suspenders with clips on each end to hold the corners on better. Maybe that would help? They are fairly cheap and might save a lot of frustration. Good luck :)

We got a set of sheets from target for our "deep" king mattress and they are a tight fit, but generally work. I did buy these things from Bed, Bath and Beyond which clip to the bottom of the sheet, around all four corners and to help it stay put - for $5 can't beat that.
