Hi all! I'm about 15 weeks along with my third baby. I know, I should know what's going on by now..but I swear this one is completely different! Plus my last pregnancy was almost 6 years ago..so I forgot alot of stuff. Lately I've noticed that I've been having cramps..nothing major. And when I told my Dr. about it she said that's ok it's just the Uterus stretching out..as long as there is no bleeding. Well there hasn't been, and they stopped for awhile. Then last night I started feeling the cramps again, and my abdomen feels really hard. It doesn't last too long and then it goes away. I'm really nervous. Just wanted to see if anyone else has had this happen and if it's just normal. Have my next prenatal visit next week. Thank you all in advance for your input. :) Happy Easter!

What can I do next?

So What Happened?

Thanks so much for all your responses. It's pretty much stopped since last friday..which is good!! Cuz i was really nervous. But I called the advice nurse, and she did say it could be braxton hicks too. And it does seem a little early for it, but since it's my 3rd child, she said that we tend to notice everything, and feel everything more. And she also said it could be dehydration which causes the cramps and to just drink lots of water, which I've been doing! I appreciate all your help everyone and I have a Dr. appt. in 2 days, and I'll address this with her as well. Ahh the things we go through during our pregnancies :)-

I had the same thing happen with both of my pregnancies. The first time it was worse and it felt like sharp pains, especially when I would stand up quickly. It eventually mellowed out and went away (I guess my uterus was all stretched out!) Don't worry. It is all normal. I am pregnant with my second child and everytime I get a pain I think "did this happen last time?"

Good luck!

Hi B.,
I'm thinking Braxton Hicks contractions...? I didn't have them when I was pregnant, but I had a few friends that did. If that's what it is it's really not a big deal http://www.babycenter.com/0_braxton-hicks-contractions_15...
Hope this helps relieve some stress.

B......funny thing about the body...we forget stuff after we've had a baby.....that's why women have more than one! :P lol
Anyways, in my opinion, and I am NO doctor, but it sounds like you're having braxton hicks contractions. You shouldn't really be feeling them this early, but since it's your third child, you never know. I have a friend that felt them all the time too. It's just the body preparing itself....I had a lot of braxton hicks w/ my daughter, but it was a little later in my pregnancy. GL! Let us knw what the doc says!

I'm no medical expert, but I know with my third and subsequent pregnancies I would feel Braxton Hicks contractions earlier and earlier. My abdomen would feel hard for a time, then feel like it had relaxed. Hopefully it's something simple like that.

Sounds like Braxton Hicks contractions. They are "practice" contractions and are normal. When they got really bad (strong) on me (my kiddo is 6 yrs old but I do remember the BH contractions!) I would have to pause what I was doing (walking, usually) and take a deep breath, relax and go on. Not dangerous, but do ask at your dr visit, just to be *sure* it's not anything else that puts you at risk for early labor/bedrest/etc.

Hi B.,
I'm in agreement with the other posts...it sounds like Braxton Hicks contractions. Those could be a sign that you're doing too much and need to slow down a little. When it happens, I think the recommendation is to lay on your left side for a while and relax and see if it goes away (if not, call your OB). I'd definitely tell your OB about it again at your next appointment, especially the hardening of your abdomen.

hi there

I could be wrong about this.. but early contractions? when my belly got hard like that (albeit) I was much further along, it was from contractions. perhaps call your doc and find out..

good luck to you!!

I was about 15 weeks with my 1st when I started having the same thing you're describing, and it turned out to be round ligament pain. This happens when the baby starts getting bigger, but still isn't big enough to rest its weight on the pelvic bones (happens around 20 weeks). Ask your OB at your next appt :)
