Hi J.,

Check out the link for Pumpkin Farms in the Fall Fun Guide on www.kidwinks.com. Many of them have been reviewed by other parents. Here's a direct link to the Fall Guide: http://www.kidwinks.com/KidsEvents/7/ChicagoKidFriendlyFa....

Kidwinks was on WGN yesterday, and we included Dollinger Family Farm as one of our highlighted venues, so you can watch the clip (there's a link in the Fall Fun Guide) to see that farm up close and personal.

Enjoy your day at the pumpkin farm - whichever one you choose!

We just went to County Line Orchard in Hobart, IN last weekend and it was AWESOME. They have apple orchards that you can walk through and pick your own apples (and you can eat as many as you want while you are picking which is great for the kids). They tell you which apples are the ripest now and every orchard row is labeled. They make their own pumpkin and apple donuts (which are amazing), and brew their own apple cider. YUM. They have a kids' farm/petting zoo, and a Moo-Choo train for little ones. They do have a pumpkin patch but it's not open to pick from yet - you can buy as many pumpkins as you want though, and they grow the standard orange pumpkins and several exotic varieties too. We will for sure be going back there. We took my 3 year-old son and 15 month-old daughter and all of us had a blast. Get there when they open if you can, they get busy. Here's their website: http://www.countylineorchard.com/

We go to Edwards Apple Orchard every year. It is in Poplar Grove, IL, about 45 west on I-90 from Woodfield area. We live in Arl. Hts and it takes us about an hour to get there. Besides picking apples, they also have a pumpkin patch and raspberry picking. For the kids, there are pony rides, a big playground and there used to be a petting zoo (it wasn't there last year, but we've seen it in years past). They also have a huge general store with all kinds of goodies, as well as a food that you can eat there. Their cider donuts are so good! We are going this Saturday and I can't wait! We've been taking my 4 year old every year since he was born and he has had a great time every time (well, maybe not that first year when he was an infant!). If you aren't looking for an apple orchard, we have also been to Sonny Acres in West Chicago, which is pretty similar to Goebberts. I actually prefer Goebberts to Sonny Acres. Finally, I know our park district is having some fall events. On October 2, Arl. Hts is having its annual Autumn Harvest event just north of the downtown area. Des Plaines may have something similar. Have fun!

Sonny Acres in West Chicago is nice. It's on North Avenue. We have also been visiting an apple orchard for the past few years, called Royal Oak Farm (up North) and they have pumpkins too. You can probably google both places for directions or more info. Happy Fall!
