My son who is 32 months old will remember to go potty only if he goes commando but as soon as I put a pull up or underwear on him I either have to keep asking if he needs to go or he will automatically wet himself. I'm at a lost on what to do. Please any advice.

What can I do next?

He will get it.
It takes time.
Just wait.
Boys are often later in toileting.
Its okay.
He will get it.

My son was like that too.
At about the same age.
Same thing.
My son got it in his own time.

Here's one of several sites that gives some great "readiness" checklists. I wonder whether your son is truly ready for success yet: http://www.parentingscience.com/toilet-training-readiness...

Many boys take months longer than girls to get it all sorted out. You may be able to keep your son mostly dry by taking him to the potty frequently. But until he is able to recognize those urges in time and act on them by himself, he won't actually be trained.

He'll get there; be patient.

Children don't know that they need to go potty. You need to bring him to the potty on a regular schedule. He will get it, but it will take time and patience.

Get the potty watch! My daughter would go every time I sat her on the potty, but I'd forget and then she'd have an accident. I wanted her to take responsibility herself, so we bought the potty watch ($10 at Babies R Us). It's a little watch that flashes lights and plays a song every 30, 60, or 90 minutes (you set the time period). My daughter loved it and would run to the potty every time it went off. We gradually weaned her off it, and now she goes on her own.

It saved my sanity. :)

keep taking him every 2-3 hours. For both my kids, it took until they were both so full, they were practically bursting and then when I sat them on the potty it suddenly clicked that that was the feeling they get when they need to go. My nephew is almost 4 and when I had him this weekend I had to remind him to go every 3 hours. The one time I forgot to remind him he started to have an accident and caught himself and asked to go to the toilet. Kids this age forget when they can't see that part, especially when there are so many other fun things to do. It will take some patience but he will get it.

So let him go commando. What's the harm? And reminding him every 2-3 hours is fine. Lots of kids don't want to stop playing to go to the bathroom. And they don't feel the urge until 3 seconds before the NEED to go.

Maybe because he can with no real consequence? Have you tried taking him shopping for underpants? It could work
