Potty Seat Reccomendations?

So my DD has finally started using her potty with complete independence. YAY! BUT... the potty seat we have for her (it's the square pink one from Walmart, that is supposed to convert from a potty seat to a toilet ring and stool...) isn't working so well. I think it's too short for her, because when she sits on it her knees are too high and it seems like the angle it puts her at makes her pee shoot over the rim, and all over the floor. Yay...

She does well sitting on the big toilet, but I have to put her on it... she doesn't like sitting on the toilet ring AT ALL and refuses to use the big toilet if it's on there... but she can't climb onto it by herself. Even with the stool, she can't get situated without falling in.

I USUALLY go with her to use the potty, just for extra supervision and encouragement... and to help her wipe... and on those occasions I just pick her up and put her on the big seat... but sometimes she is quick enough to get in there and finish her business before I even realize that she is using it! lol.

Sooo.. any potty seat recommendations? I THINK a taller one might do the trick... but I'm not sure. Any other mom's face this problem? She is fairly tall for her age, (I can't remember her actual height, but she is in the 95% for 2 year olds...) would a too-short potty cause her to overshoot?

What can I do next?

take her to the store and let her pick it out. We went through several potties for both kids until I let them pick out their own. You can have her sit on it in the store (clothed of course) to see if she is comfortable. There was a princess one and a plain blue and white one that my daughter liked, but it was 5 yrs ago. My son liked the froggy potty from fisher price and the bjorn potty. Whatever you use, make sure you take the little pee insert out of the front that is there for boys.

We bought the Mayfair NextStep Built-in Potty Seat from Amazon after our daughter outgrew her little potty seat. At first we used the little rings that you just place over the toilet but they always collected urine and smelled terrible. No matter what brand we bought. So we got this:

It's been amazing. It's a three in one seat that replaces the seat you currently have on your toilet. The first level is a regular adult sized seat. Then, tucked into the lid and held by a hidden magnate is a child sized seat that can be lowered for the child's convenience, then raised again for the adults.

No messy dripping removable plastic rings! It's been a dream lid. We've been using it for the past year. The year prior to this seat was a mess of failed, drippy, gross experiments.

The price is 30 bucks but I think I spent more than that flopping about between other plastic products so I'd buy it again in a heartbeat.

We bought one similar to the Mayfair. The reviews said it was better than the Mayfair.....but not sure about that.

Like the last person said.....IT IS A MUST HAVE! It has a magnet in it that keeps the toddler seat up when you first open the lid. The slow close is super nice. No pinched fingers/smash hands.

We also have the pink seat that is also a stool. We use that in the van. She uses it to hike herself up to her seat (she's a peanut...size of an 18 month old, but 2 y.o.), and we use it when we are driving a distance and NEED to go potty. LIFE SAVER!

Invest in the overpriced potty seat. You will be SOOOOO thankful you did. SOOOO much cleaner than and easier than those that sit on top.

We got the Bjorn seat cover - it is VERY stable and a step stool. NEVER even considered a potty. How sturdy the seat cover is matters a lot. Our first one was wobbly and it scared DS. He was 25 months and could easily position himself on the Bjorn.

We bought a toilet seat that has the toddler toilet seat built in and it just folds down from the lid. A magnet holds it there. I don't know the name, we got it at Fred Meyer.

We have the same pink seat from Walmart and my dd hates it. It pinches her and she over shoots too. She's in the 99% for 2 year olds also. She picked out the $4.99 one at Ikea, and she loves it. Its the 4th one she's had and the only one she uses. Its all one piece, which makes it safer, and it can be used backward or forward. I would try these.
