We're getting a pool installed.
If you have a pool, have you/do you use one of those automatic cleaners that rides on the bottom of the pool?
Which one do you recommend?
Thanks!

What can I do next?

We have a Polaris. I couldn't imagine having a pool without O.! It helps keep the pool nice and clean.

Yes, we have O., it is a Polaris brand lil' guy, he does a great job and we have had him going on 8 years, with no problems besides having to replace the mesh 'catcher' bag!

~The kids love it b/c every once in a great while it will come up high on the wall and the tail that propels it (by water pressure) comes out of the water and whips all around, they think that is very exciting?

The Polaris is great! Our pool is above ground but my ex's parents have an in ground and have always had a Polaris. As I remember they only had to repair something every two or three years. The creature itself is the same O. that came with the house 20 years ago so apparently they last long.

Polaris. You will not be happy without O.. Having it installed when everything else is being done is the way to go, too. You don't want to have to go back later and try to retro-fit.

Love ours! Well.... except for our dog. She has been trying to catch it's tail for about 6 years.... a couple of times she had it for a second (ripped the scrubber a little) but it always ends up getting away....... lol

Combine the polaris with a screen, and the "work" to take care of it is almost not worth mentioning....

Yes, we have O.. Yes, we use it daily. Yes, we would recommend O.. It stirs up debris on the bottom and vacuums up trash. A must all around in our opinion. Expect to perform routine maintenance on it, though. We change the bag about once every year and a half. The twigs and leaves break holes in the bag over time, making it less effective at retaining the debris. I have stitched it but it’s only a temporary fix. Also ours has a foam tail cover for moderate scrubbing while it guides the vacuum. The foam piece wears out. Once in three years we have replaced the o-rings and the internal filter. Any good pool house can help you out. Good luck.

depends on your pool type. Plus what type you get will very. You should be discussing this with your builder, if they are not going through this with you get a new builder.

Congrats on the pool! Yes, we have O. and its a MUST! It runs every day, all year round and helps keep up the pool. We also have a pool company we pay to come every week to clean and maintain the pool. The pool vacuums are pretty expensive but well worth it. Make sure you tell the kids to stay away from it so it doesn't get broken. I think we have something like a Baracuda (sp?) but can't remember. Congrats and have fun! =)

Congrats on the pool. We love ours. Yes, we use a polaris. (SP). Its does a good job. What type of pool? Above, below, galvanized, preformed? Ours is galvanized. They need to be redone once every 10 to 15 years.
