So What Happened?

It's me (the parent) that has the potty mouth. I can't control it. Especially when I am PMSing. It's horrible. I have tried the rubber band, money jar, replacing words. May it is a hormonal imbalance? I don't now i just know I need help with it. :) Thanks everyone

I would not stress about a few dirty words. If you are the one who needs to clean up the talk, then just work on it, trying different "clean" words to replace the profane ones. If it is a child, just ignore it. Chances are they are doing it to get a reaction, don't give one and the words will lose there appeal.

I cuss like a sailor, but I don't think I need hypnotherapy for it.
I describe it as having "flavorful" speech.
I don't cuss AT people or call them dirty names. I don't cuss in front of my kids teachers or around people I don't know well. I don't use profanity standing in line at the grocery store or in restaurants, etc. Surprisingly enough, my kids never cussed even though they heard mommy slip a few times.
My son is going to be 15 this month and he will say some choice words from time to time, but only around me. He'll say something pisses him off or something is B.S. What the hell? Stuff like that. But, like I said, he only ever says it around me. I think those words are pretty tame, but he'd never dare say them around his dad. And he's never slipped and said them around other relatives or at school.

Are you talking about an adult who can't control their cussing or a little kid?
I guess that would make a difference.
I've known people who were hypnotized several times to quit smoking and it didn't work, but I guess you have to be motivated in the first place.
I've heard of wearing a rubber band on your wrist and giving yourself a little snap when the urge strikes you. I guess how effective that would be would depend on the person as well.

I hope you get some good responses but you didn't give much info.

Best wishes.

If someone is to that point, where they feel almost "out of control" then I would look at what is aggitating the nervous system.

Tourettes falls into this category. Tourettes is an extreme example, but it caused by something aggitating the nervous system!

The key is to get the nerves "RELAXED" . Here is what aggitates the nervous system and sends it into a hyper excitable/hyper anxiety mode:

vitamin deficiencies
mineral deficiencies
bacterial , fungal, or parasite infection
heavy metal poisoning
foods which cause blood sugar fluctuations (low or high blood sugar)and hormone imbalances
Dehydration

Usually it is a mixture of the above that will produce extreme symptoms like rage, inability to control speech, teeth grinding, nail biting, hair pulling, self mutilation, apathy, extreme shyness, tantrums, depression, mental illness, delirium, bipolar, schitzsophrenia, ADHD, sensitivites to noise, light or touch, tics, fatigue, and sooooo much more.

Key minerals: increase magnesium. (Magnesium malate or citrate. )
increase vit b complex (liquid drops under the tounge)
take fulvic acid (treats trace mineral deficiency)
Stop taking a multi vitamin. (high iron and high folic acid feed bacteria)
Stop taking any iron supplements.( it increases bacterial overgrowth)
Stop taking just calcium supps. (causes magnesium deficiency)
Stop taking vit d supps. Get 10 minutes of sun on your skin instead.

get off grains and lower milk intake drastically. Increase nuts, seeds, veggies, and pasture fed protiens. ok to eat some amounts of fruit AFTER meal to keep blood sugar level.
Coffee drinking can increase likely hood of verbal outbursts, it highly affects mineral balance. (coffee is drastic for me.)
subsitute Xylitol or Stevia for sugar. try to stop or drastically lower corn syrup intake (read labels) Corn syrup and grains have mercury in them.

Treat to get rid of heavy metals/toxins:

take alpha lipoic acid
take NCD zeolite
get rid of chlorine in tap water by using a correct water filter
stop vaccinating (high mercury, high bacterial and viral contamination)
again reduce corn syrup

To help hormone balance:
Switch from using manmade oils in a bottle and margarines to using only butter, raw virgin coconut oil, and raw red palm oil(high soure of vit E). Use olive oil also
take Iodine (lugols /liquid in water)- user doc supervision.
Take ribose for any fatigue
thyroid imbalance/adrenal issues should be seen by a hollistic doctor

Samento can help some bacterial infections. there are other herbs that can decrease bacterial load in the body. Samento can be taken as drops, take in the morning and after lunch, taking later in the day can cause insomnia.

Wormwood , ground cloves, and black walnut hull is taken for worms.

Lastly, the nervous system runs on HYDROelectricity. If there is even slight dehydration , the body shuts down the path of water to nerves, skin, colon, etc, and runs it to vital organs like the brain. So tension, aggitation, heaches, pain, etc result.

As you treat health issues it is important to realize that you will start noticing changes: you will be killing bacteria, fungus, parasites, and when these living organisms die, they release their excrement.- This is a toxin to your body and it will further aggitate the nervous system! You will also be releasing toxins from your fat cells where the body had put them to try to shelter you. You absolutely WILL see increasing bad symptoms !!!(more irritability, insomnia, hyperness and energy, headaches, pains, etc) this is how you know it is working. Slowdown the detox (cut back on doseages) if they become overwhelming. After time these detox symptoms will get better and better, but you have to go through this "strom" to come out healthy on the other end.

No I haven't...who has got the potty mouth? Usually reading more helps to expand the vocabulary and express emotions with our cussing. Perhaps a quarter jar would help, it helps! A quarter goes in every time a curse word is said, usually if a family is involved it goes toward a family trip.

Cuss banks have been around forever. I have a little wooden one that reads
"Cussing's bad and just not funny. If you cuss, it'll cost you money".
The worse the word, the bigger the fine.

when my brother was little, I started replacing the F word with "monkey" and it got to where even one of my good friends was using monkey as their curse word of choice. :-) I recommend the word replacement, as hypnosis is baloney.

I'm assuming you're talking about an adult.

And hypnosis really depends on how susceptible to suggestion a person is. You can make a person squawk like a chicken, so one would suspect that someone who was feeling lazy, and didn't want to monitor their own speech could attempt hypnosis. ((Because, anyone who doesn't have a physiological problem - tourettes, schizophrenia, brain injury- or chemical imbalace, either naturally or through drugs/meds can learn to monitor their own speech.))

In the usmc, only one adjective is ever needed. F. It can be said with about 50 different tones of voice and speed to mean, REALLY, any adjective you can possibly think of. So one gets in the habit. Of course, before that, in bootcamp (at least at the time) we were taught to say "doggonit!" ROFL... and ooooh did THAT phrase get used with actual emphasis.

Cuss words are just words we use to verbalize emotion, or as adjectives. There's nothing special about them. Nothing, nada, zip, zilch. My kiddo misheard one swear word, and proceeded to say "Genius!" for about 3 years running.

When a person is in the habit of swearing all the time, it takes several weeks to several months of disassociating one set of words with another. Sigh. Or in the case of the F that equals 1000 words... of remembering OTHER adjectives. It can take some time, but they're just words. Imagine if you weren't allowed to say grocery, car, apartment, or eat. You'd say them all the time, and then have to correct yourself. Pretty soon you'd be saying market, auto, flat, & sup. It's harder with swearing, just because there's emotion involved. But it;s only harder. Not impossible.

Hi V.,

Yes there are. A friend of a friend of mine has Tourette syndrome and has looked into it. Don't know your outlets in IL but I'm sure you can track someone down in a major city near you.
