Hi mamas! I need help here - I've been wearing the same few nursing bras over & over (who has time to shop???)and they're falling apart! I usually wear a 42-44 C or D - where do you ladies shop for plus-size nursing bras? Any favorite brands/styles?

Thanks so much!

I'm basically the same size and I've had great luck with Anita brand. You can buy them at Nordstrom, but they're more expensive there. I buy mine at Evergreen hospital in Kirkland, but it's a bit of a drive for you. :) You can check the prices online and get fitted at Nordstrom. I really like style 5041: http://www.laurensilva.com/Anita_Microfiber_Underwire_Nur.... It's not super fancy or pretty, but it offers the support I need and the quality is great! I've never had a problem with the ones I've bought that were the correct size. I tried getting 2 that were a band size too small and the underwire came out of both after awhile. Proper fit is really important!

On line, at Just My Size (www.jms.com). I just got the latest catalog in the mail and they had several nursing bras there. Happy shopping!!

Hi L.,

I needed to shop for nursing bras when I still lived in Ohio, and I went to a small shop that specialized in fitting mastectomy patients. They also carried a great selection of regular bras for large sizes and had a reasonable nursing selection. The ladies who worked there were very kind, helped fit me and LOVED to see my baby. They were also able to special order.

That said, I needed a small band/large cup bra (34DD, I think). I ended up with a Goddess brand. It was VERY supportive--no stretch and lots of seams in the right places--even though it didn't have wires. The nursing clasps were a little tricky to manage with one hand, but I got the hang of it after a few weeks. It also took a little while to break it in (the straps were pretty stiff at first). I remember them being around $40 apiece, but well worth the price for the support!

Good luck!

Hi L.,
I'm having the exact same problem, except that I'm not in nursing bras yet (still pregnant) and am a 40G!!! Anyway, you can try Bravado online or I see that Village Maternity in Seattle carries a lot of bigger sized bras in different brand and nursing bras, too, obviously. Not sure where in Seattle you're located, but Evergreen Hospital has a store with plus-sized bras. Perhaps the hospital where you delivered has the same? Or try online, as I suggested, as some maternity stores carry bigger sizes online, but not in their stores. Best to get measured in the store first, though, to be sure what size you are...

For everyday, run-of-the mill, inexpensive yet durable nursing bras (larger sizes) I've had good luck at JCPenney. You can order the larger sizes through their catalog and return or exchange them with no questions. They also run specials where you buy 1 and get 1 bra free. Using those specials I've usually paid about $16 for each nursing bra and I'm a 36DD.

Birth and Beyond on Madison has a good selection and decent pricing. They will fit you and order the correct size if they don't have one in stock. I also just got new ones at Village Maternity. They were pretty helpful too. For service, I like Birth and Beyond better.

I also looked at mybreastpump.com for bras and they seem to have good pricing for what they carry. I never ordered bras thru them but pump parts. good luck, it is never fun to bra shop.
