We're going to be spending 9 days in the Finger Lakes and Niagara Falls area. We'll be camping most of the time, the campground is already booked, but need to book a hotel near the falls. Any advice? Where to stay, where to eat, things to do, etc. It's hubby, myself, and 2 teen girls. Were trying to keep the cost down, but don't mind splurging on something special.

What can I do next?

So What Happened?

We had a great trip.

The Finger Lakes are beautiful. Saw waterfalls, several museums, visited Sodus Bay and climbed the stairs in the light house.

We chose to stay at a hotel near the Buffalo/Niagra airport for the one night since it was 1/2 way between Niagra Falls and our campground.

We had a fantasic time doing the Cave of the Winds. We walked over the bridge into Canada, it's so much easier and faster than trying to drive. Also, there's a great view from the Rainbow Bridge.

Thanks for your advice.

Stay in Niagara-on-the-Lake, Ontario, Canada, and do day trips to the falls. It is a quaint town one Lake Ontario with the Shaw Festival, horse carriage rides and delicious food. There are vineyards in the area as well that have lodgings, and the area is conducive to bicycling. It also is where at least one boat ride to the falls originates. It's a simple two-lane drive to the falls. Niagara Falls is a tourist trap. You will not regret staying a bit out of town.

And make sure you get to the Canadian side. The view of the falls is better from that side.

In Niagara Falls, stay on the Canadian side. Great views and you can walk to everything. Use trip advisor to review the hotels, motels.

We stayed at the Doubletree Fallsview over Memorial Day weekend and really enjoyed it. Great breakfast buffet. Nice rooms (newer hotel), and of course the view! Enjoy!

We have always used vrbo.com for our vacation rentals and have been very happy. Here are some great places I found for you in the Finger Lakes area. If you scroll down on each page there are pictures of the rental at the bottom of each. I have also found that some owners are even a little flexible in the price. Hope this helps. Have a great vacation.
