My son will be 3 in a couple of months and I think it's time we started teaching him about good vs bad touch. I've heard there are picture books that explain this in simple terms for the preschoolers... do you know of any good ones? Anything else we can do to teach him without spooking him?

Thanks!

What can I do next?

My personal opinion is that showing him pictures of people who look "sinister" isn't the way to go...... that way he won't expect his uncle, his coach etc.

Instead..... teach him that HE has control over what goes on with his body... in ANY capacity.... who he hugs goodbye, who he kisses, who helps him get dressed etc. This will teach him that NO ONE gets to touch him if it's not OK with him.

Now, this will backfire on you a bit..... when he uses it against you!!!! But stay strong. Your goal is to raise an independent, well-adjusted young man who has good self-esteem to say NO in the right circumstances.

We talk to the kids in the bath tub simply asking when are we allowed to be naked, who is allowed to wash you, who can touch your p****** p**** and move onto what our address and phone number are so they are learning it without it being scatter, good luck

I read Good Touch Bad Touch coloring book to my son. I thought it explained it simply and efficiently.

Here's a good website of other books and resources:

I don't know of any books, I definately believe in starting early and keeping a dialouge going and not just having ONE big sex talk, but 3 is awfuly young for a big lets read this book and talk, if that is what you are thinking.
THe main points they seem to cover when my kids had programs come in in preschool and kinder is that anything that your swimsuit covers is private and is only for the grown ups that have to take care of you, mom dad, dr. and the other point is defining secrets a good secret is a surprise for a bday. a bad secret is anything that makes you feel yucky.
I think if you just start mentioning these sorts of things when ever you think of it, youll be good. If you do hear of a book let us know. Maybe ask at the library.

The library will have some books in their Parenting section. Just ask at the juvenile desk.

Also google Amazon Books and put in those words. Here is one page that shows several such books. http://www.amazon.com/Good-Touch-Bad-Learning-Improper/si...

I've used this book with my daughter and now my grandchildren.

This book also includes info on bad touches such as hitting.
