What's a good, inexpensive personal blender? Some of the brands I see are Hamilton Beach, Oster, Black & Decker, etc... Has anyone heard of the NOW Sports 300 Watt Personal Blender? Just something small for college student.

What can I do next?

magic bullet. just send the base(motor) and 1 or 2 of the cups. I've given it as gifts to high school graduates, probably 30 of them so far. Everyone loves them, small and easy to use. Coupons at Macy's and Costco use to sell them (haven't seen them there in a while) but they also had them with coupon codes.

I have a Hamilton Beach single serve blender with travel lid and it works pretty well. My only complaint is that it doesn't easily crush ice - it mostly crushes it, but I sometimes end up with a few bigger chunks in the smoothy. It does fine with frozen fruit (I routinely use frozen bananas, cherries, and strawberries), it's just the ice that sometimes isn't fully crushed.

But for the price (retail less than $20), it's pretty good and it's the perfect size to make 1 smoothie at a time.

I've had a Magic Bullet for 10 years and it still works. If it breaks, I'll replace it with a Nutri Bullet.

i've saved a ton in the long run by coughing up the bucks up front. my blendtec cost $400 and i worked for a year to save up the bucks for it. 6 1/2 years into the 7 year warranty it got super loud and worrisome. the replacement works ever better than the original.
it not only makes smoothies, but grinds grain, makes soup and purees, and bulletproof coffee.
if you don't use frozen fruit in your smoothies you can get away with any sort of cheap blender. but i hoard fresh fruit like a squirrel all summer long and freeze it for year round smoothies, and i'll never be without a super blender again.

I love my Nutri Bullet.
It's easy to use and easy to clean.

My kids love smoothies. I just our regular, old (Oster I think?) blender.
