I'm looking for a new pediatritian who shares the same views on *not* vaccinating my child, or at least will talk to me about my options and help me make informed decisions. Does anyone have any suggestions?

Hi, T.. I was concerned about vaccination too. My pediatrician has been a doctor for twenty five years and he has five children of his own. He told me that if I spent one month hanging around the office, I would not be afraid of vaccinations. I would be much more afraid of hepatitis, tetnus, etc. He said in the eighties he spent his residency doing nothing but caring for children with menigitis. He watched so many babies and children die from this horrible illness. Since the vaccine came out, he now sees zero cases of that menigitis. He believes that vaccinations are the best thing science has ever done. That was all I needed to hear and I was in. I'm not sure where you are located but we love and trust Dr. Smith at Mesa Pediatrics in Gilbert.

T., good for you. I can't say that I've come across a doctor who will agree with not vaccinating (that's how they line their pockets :) I have researched this heavily and I have decided to wait until my son is older/heavier/stronger.
Take care, just wanted to write some encouragement to help balance out the other feedback I saw.
Take care,
S.

Hi T.,

I applaud you for your choice. Don't let some of these moms scare you. We did not vaccinate my daughter and she grew up to be perfectly healthy! She is now 17, and her immune system is a lot stronger than mine ever was. It was a scary decision for us to make because the medical profession works on our fear of "what if". I am so glad we did not cave. Good Luck.

Hi T.

Good for you for not wanting to vaccinate. Our pediatrician is Dr. Jones in Gilbert pediatric and he is ok honoring our wishes not to vaccinate our child.

Talk to those parents that had a wonderful completely healthy babies and got the vaccinations and the next day, their sweet child started to have severe health problems such as autism and much worse.... We are not in the 1800's anymore where there are diseases and illnesses... My philosophy is that if we don't give our child vaccinations and something bad happens (God forbid), we will hate ourselves for it and if we do and something bad happens, (again, God forbid) we will still hate ourselves for it. So, either way, grass might look greener on the other side... Do your homework and believe in what you like and do what is right for you...

Meanwhile, it is very important to keep the baby and yourselves healthy. You need to be under chiropractic care on regular basis since chiropractors keep your spine in a good shape and keep the nervous system working without interference which carries the energy to the organs that keep you functioning and healing at 100%... Take your vitamins and minerals on regular basis. Exercise regularly and all other modalities/ methods to keep yourself healthy, please... thanx

Great luck to you

There was a great Time Magazine article on this issue that helped me to make up my mind. It must have been within the past 2-3 months. It was actually the cover-story. You should read it; it has been the most informative source that I have found to date. Good luck.

Hi T.,
These are difficult times when it comes to decisions regarding vaccinations...especially when certain celebs create doubt in our minds about the current healthcare system. I hope you make an educated decision, not one based on the opinions of celebrities. In addition, I hope you consider the safety of your children as well as mine when you decide not to vaccinate. Imagine a society where measles (which can lead to encephalitis), mumps (which can cause permanent hearing loss), pertussis (whooping cough), polio , and diptheria are all present again. Thanks to vaccines these diseases have been outdated for many years in the U.S. Consider reading the article "The Worried Mom's Guide to Baby Vaccines" in the July issue of Parents magazine. I found this to be very helpful to me in addition to talking with my pediatritian, Dr.Perlstein, at Palo Verde Pediatrics. All the doctors there are great. They're on ValVista and Elliot. ###-###-####
Good Luck!
P.S. Think about why we don't have diseases from the 1800s anymore.
