I am looking for a pediatrician in the Overland Park area. Olathe, Shawnee, Mission and Leawood or Lenexa would work as well. I am due late feb so I am starting my search, but have no idea where to start. I want a good, smart doctor that actually has good bedside manners. And the office or doctor has to accept medicaid. If anyone has in any suggestions, I would appreciate it greatly.

What can I do next?

I second the vote for Pediatric Care Specialists! We see Dr. Jason Wichman. He is actually very young and has young children who are about 5 and 3 so going through a lot of the same things we are which is nice. I love that they are always on time, they have evening and Saturday hours in during flu/cold season, they have a prescription kiosk in the office, they have a lactation consultant and a child psychologist on staff. Their nurses are so helpful - when I've called unsure if I should bring the girls in, they've talked through everything with me and there have been times I've been able to avoid going into the office (saving me time and money). They are very responsive - I've needed paperwork for childcare and they've completed it the same day. I had some concerns about our youngest and Dr. Wichman was a good listener and provided very positive feedback about my suggestion to see a physical therapist. We have other family and friends who go there, too, who are very happy with them. I can't say enough good things about them!

I go to Dr. Mary Tyson at Johnson County Pediatrics and we love her! The office is really close to Shawnee Mission Med, and their website is jocopeds.com. I also really like Dr. White at the practice. They do have walk in hours everyday until noon, and are open Saturday mornings for walk ins. I'm not sure if they accept Medicaid or not, but it's worth a call.

We LOVE Harvey Grossman at Pediatric Care Specialists, located behind St. Lukes South on roughly 123rd and Metcalf. I'm not sure if they take medicaid but it's worth a shot. Dr. Grossman has been a ped. for probably 20-30 years but he is so up on new practices, studies, theories, etc. He has a great bedside manner and is very patient and never thinks I'm crazy! LOL! Congrats!

I don't know the answer to your medicaid question, but you could call. We have seen Dr. Heaphy since the day my daughter was born (over 10 years ago) and LOVE him. He's fabulously funny with kiddos and really seems to listen. I think the office is actually Pediatric Professionals, but the number is ###-###-####. I believe he is also currently on the board at OP Regional as well. He's good!
