My 14 year old is suffering from recurring headaches. The pediatrician wasn't much help. Does anyone know of a good pediatric neurologist in the Schaumburg/Hoffman Estates/arlington Heights area?

I'm also open to alternative medicine so if anyone has any suggestions, i'd love to hear them. (we're trying acupuncture now)

What can I do next?

So What Happened?

Thank you everyone for the great information!
I actually work near Lutheran General, so I will check out the neurologists some of you have recommended. I'll also see if Children's has any satellite clinics near us. I want to get an MRI to rule anything out (my pediatrician didn't want to order one), see what the neurologist has to say, and then I will also look into the chiropractor as to finding out the cause.

I hope all your children are doing well. Because there's nothing better for a parent than to have a healthy child.

Thanks again!

a good chiropractor can really make a difference and look into your childs medical history and see what may be causing this as well. I know a great one in Lake Barrington Dr. Andreano 847*713*2500, this is going to be the best bet to try it without medication, the neurologist is going to medicate not solve. Obviously you should consult them but before you start medicating please consider looking into the cause

My son sees a ped neurologist out of Lutheran and his name is Nishant Shah. He is amazing! He is so good with the kids and talks to me with respect and takes my opinions into account when making decisions. My son was 2.5 years old when he started getting migraines and we went to a chiropractor and nothing worked. I spent $900 on a blood test for intolerances and the chiro promised me eliminating all the things on his list would work, and I spent months of driving myself nuts reading every single food label and not going out to eat and avoiding play dates...all for nothing because none of it worked (other than to make a healthier lifestyle which we have continued). I don't have the doctor's phone #, but I'm sure you can look him up. He came highly recommended to me and we also love him. He has helped dramatically and my son is a new child thanks to his help!

Hi,
We've had to go to a pediatric neuro surgeon since my son was born. Not sure that's exactly the same thing. Unfortunately I was told there were not any in our area so we have had to go to Dr. Hahn at University of Illinois-Chicago hospital downtown.

My son sees a pediatric neurologist in Park Ridge named Dr Ikramuddin. I'm not sure if he has any other offices close to you, but he is wonderful.

Take your child to Children's Memorial Hospital, either Chicago or Milwaukee. You can get a referral for a doctor. My son goes to Dr. Marian Larsen, really good. I know it is a drive but we screwed around with a local doctor and had nothing but problems, wanted to put him on meds when it turned out not to be necessary. There are also satellite offices for Children's with ped neuros.

I do not know of one specific doctor, but you can go to Childrens Memorial Hospital website and search for doctors by location. My daughter sees a pediatric urologist from there and sees him in Hoffman Estates.
