Pain down There

This is kind of weird to ask but I was wondering if anyone has experienced this before. I am 6 months pregnant with my second child. Recently I have been having pain down there. What it feels like is a pulled muscle and really only hurts when I walk. But can you even pull a muscle down there. I'm not extremely worried the pain isn't really that bad. But I was wondering what it could be.

What can I do next?

Same thing is happening for me. Somem days it hurts so much that I'm limping around. I was told it's normal. Just to take it slow, but my feet up when I can (Ha!). Good luck.

I had the same thing with my second child too. The way I explained it though was it felt like my daughter was going to fall out, the pressure was so intense, especially when walking or standing for a long time. I can't remember the exact explanation the doctor gave me for it (it was so bad I went in for a check up between visits-I really thought something was wrong), but she did assure me everything was fine and that it was completelely normal. It may have been something to do with the ligaments already being stretched from the first pregnancy more sensitive the second time around or something like that. She said anytime the pain got too bad to lay on my left side until it felt better (not something I could do at work, but it did help at home). Anyway, bottom line was that it was nothing to worry about and my baby made it to full term without any issues. Good luck.

Kimberly,

I too had that with all 4 of my pregnancies. My doctor told me it's just the round ligaments stretching to accomidate the changes in your body. You have to remember your pelvis, ligaments, muscles and nerves are all moving and shifting at time to make more room. Just lay down and rest, as suggested before, and it should improve. If not, of course follow up with your OB/GYN.

Have a blessed day!

A little about me:

Hi K.,
I also have this pain (I'm 37 weeks pregnant) and I just chalked it up to being a pulled groin. The unfortunate part about this is that it happened in my fourth month or so and it still hasn't gone away and only gets worse. Sorry for the bad news! Hopefully you'll have better luck than I have had, but I was told that since my body is mainly concerned with taking care of the baby any kind of pulled muscles will not heal until after I give birth. I have just been trying not to walk long distances because that makes it much worse. Good luck, hope it gets better for you!

Hi K.,

It sounds like round ligament pain-- the stretching associated with pregnancy. I had similar pain to what you described and thats what my OB said it was. They just encouraged me to move a little slower when changing positions. It should get better.

Congratulations on your pregnancy!

Molly
