OK, it's time to get back into shape since oldest child is now 14!!! I've been active on and off forever but it's time to get serious!
My husband and I are embarking on the P90X routine..just wondering if anyone has some good experiences with this routine! (don't tell me the really bad ones..just kidding!)

What can I do next?

Go for it! My hubby and I also did P90X. We loved it! I lost 20lbs and 8% body fat after 2 babies. I was down to a size 4! I never felt better, had more energy and felt stronger (was able to lift things easier). I say had, because I have since had my 3rd child. He is now 8 months old and I am about ready to do P90X again. I don't know how committed you are, but you have to stick with it. For me, it was a big help having my hubby there to keep me going when I got distracted. It is EXTREME and worth every minute. Good Luck!

When the Bally's near our house closed, my fitness buff husband got P90X and absolutely LOVES it - he's in better shape than he ever has been (and he's always been in shape).

The only caveat - you have to be committed to the program. It is INTENSE.

I'm not disciplined enough for it and I just enjoy walking during the time I have to work out.

Good luck.

You really have to commit to it. 90 minutes/day, 6 days/week. It does amazing things for the people who can stick with it, but it's really hard to do, and most people I know have used it for a few weeks and let it fall by the way side.

Good luck!

My husband and I have done it and loved it! The key is to pick a time that you can both commit to doing it and DO IT! It's a 6 day a week program and it's easy to quit. Write down your goals and post them where you'll see them so you can remind yourself why you are doing it. Also, take the before pictures before you start as as you go along so that you can see your progress. You probably won't be able to do everything correctly in the videos right from the start but as you continue to do them you'll get better.
Good luck!!

I have P90X and Insanity workout videos. I have a little baby fat from my pregnancy 4 yrs ago.Let me tell you...I'm in my early 30's 120 pounds I work out periodically on the treadmill and I did the P90X ab ripper and it kicked my butt!!! A lot of friends have it and it really does work, only if you do the work out for the 90days which i didn't.

P90X was okay, unfortunately I just can't get into some of the routines. I am an action girl and liked my classes for kickboxing, etc. I really like Insanity. The cardio is crazy, but the results are awesome. Plus I just like the fact that I am doing something my 15 year old and 17 year old both huff and puff too. Doing anything is better than doing nothing! Good Luck!

Hi,

I started P90X a while back. I will say that this is the best workout I have ever done. There is only one catch. This workout is NOT a workout for someone who does not already work out on a regular basis. If you do not work out 4-5 days a week already I wouldnt start with P90X. I would start out by working out at a gym or if that isnt available, going jogging and doing sit ups and push ups at home. Unless you are pretty physically fit already the workouts are way too hard. It wont be worth it to you to spend all that money to have the DVD's sit there and collect dust because you cant do 90% of the routines in the videos. I consider myself pretty physically fit (I work out 5 days a week for 1 1/2-2 hrs each of those days and I couldnt do a lot of the videos. Although they do not expect you to be able to do every routine right away it is a bit disheartening when you can barely keep up with most.
You also need a pretty good amount of time everyday to do the videos. Most range from 45 min to 1 hr and 30 minutes depending on what routines you are doing.
If you are truely gun-ho about taking this on then do it. In the end once you start to be able to do more of the routines, which will actually take you into a second 90 day cycle (as long as you stick to a pretty strict diet plan as well) the results are amazing. I lost 18 lbs in 2 months. Just keep in mind that this is about as serious as it gets. Its isnt something that you can get away with doing 15-25 min here and there before heading to the Acme or before the kids get up. Its a big part of the day and you are dripping with sweat afterwards so there is no running out and about right away......if your legs and arms will even cooperate to do so anyway.

GOOD LUCK!!!!! Its well worth it if you can do it!!!!!!!!

I have not done it...too much of a chicken and, quite honestly, I know I'm not dedicated enough to do something at such a high level at this point. Maybe once I drop a few dozen more pounds it'll be easier to do. But, my sister and my cousin have both done it, as has a friend of mine who is a personal trainer.

My sister started doing it with her hubby, and they were both getting great results, but then their responsibilities at their family biz picked up and it fell by the wayside.

My cousin who is in her late 30s has done it and looks PHENOMENAL! Shes in better shape now than she was when she got married. She hasn't been in such great shape since she was in high school as a competitive swimmer.

My friend who is doing it has been posting weekly pics on her Facebook account and the rapid results are AMAZING!

It seems that the common denominator for those who are successful with it, as with any nutrition and exercise program, is discipline and dedication. If you can stick with it, I'm sure you'll have great results too! Good luck and let us know how it goes!

I love that workout and believe me it is a workout get ready to "Bring It" as they say...and only do what you can he even tells you that...but after about a week or two your almost doing as many reps as they are. I am pregnant with my second and I can't wait till February rolls around so I can start it back up, its been about 5 months since I did P90X. But go for it.

I have done it. It is a really good work out, the program requires working out 6 days a week for anywhere from 1hour to 1 1/2 hours. I like it and use the videos now interspersed as cross training days when I don't run.

I haven't done P90X...I have the original Power 90 and IT works. It does wonders. I can only imagine the results you get with the extreme version. I do have a friend who's in the middle of it now and she's looking pretty darn good. My thought is that if you can commit yourself to it and get yourself in the mindset that you are going to finish the 90 days--you'll get the results you want and then some. Good luck!
