Overactive Bladder Medications

I've been seeing these commercials on TV about overactive bladder and the medications you can get from your doctor for it. I'm beginning to think that I have this "overactive bladder". I cannot hold it even for a minute and if I try I cannot walk straight my bladder cramps up so bad. It just comes on all of a sudden and I have to stop what I am doing to rush to the ladies room. I know it is not a UTI because I've had those before and besides this has been going on for sometime now. Sometimes I have to change because I don't make it!! Does anyone else have this problem? And if so, did you take any of the medications? Did they help? Were there any side effects?

R.,

Go to a urologist....when I was younger I had a problem with my urethra and it would close and spontaneously open and I experienced the same thing you did. It can be corrected....Good luck

my son has bladder spasms and he has been on ditropan since he was about 3... it certainly helped him... the only side effect he has is the dry mouth... but it keeps him drinking water so i'm happy.. hope everything works out

Hi R.. I have the same thing. It is overactive bladder. I took Detrol LA and it worked great but gave me dry mouth. It's worth a try though if it is really bothering you. Peeing when you cough or laugh is a different problem (incontinence) but the urgency is overactive ladder.

P.S. When I tell my daughter I have to go to the bathroom. She says "Uhh Ohh." I have more accidents than she does and she's 4!

I know what you're going through.... I would actually wet myself so bad.... I would see your GYN and talk to he/she... When I had my son my bladder feel I had to have surgery.... I had a sling put in and that helped a lot... As far as the pills some work and some dry you out soo bad.... Hope this helps you...
