oops...have You Ever Wanted to Revise It?

Unless it is just a spelling error or a letter missing or something like that I will usually do an ETA: if I am in that boat.. But there are times when I have misread the question, and then I realize it later so I just put "oops.....and then what I misunderstood" and then change my answer in the ETA, but leave my original.

You are not the only one who does that!

No, I usually don't want to revise and I have never edited an answer. And I usually don't even read the prior posts before I type my response either! But sometimes if I get a bunch of flowers on something I will go back to see what others said and then I might think I might have said something different after rereading it. But generally, even if I think I *should* edit something, I never do. =)

I edit, but make it clear that it has been edited.

I am constantly editing.

I've yet to write a response OR question without fixing something, usually a grammatical error, but often some long winded thought. (Wouldn't be an Ephie response without a rambling thought...or three ;-)

And *sigh* my posts remain pocked with errors, and I usually manage to leave out something important.

If it's a little edit, I don't say it's been edited.

If it's a big edit / change of heart / added thought, I will say something to the tune of, "Edit to Add", or "Got to thinking..."

A grammatical or spelling error I will just correct. Additional information, response to something else, or major change I include ETA. It helps make this a more conversational forum rather than preachy, as one-way communication sometimes comes across.

Not fair to revise the question if it makes the answers not fit the original. I do quick editing right after I write something and see where I goofed. I sometimes add an after thought to my answers but I don't add it if it would make someone that sent me a flower already scratch their head.

I have edited both. Sometimes I'm a little too blunt.

I write my question or response and proof read as best I can, and send. But then reread it again and see a misspelling or it doesnt make sense, and hurry to change it before too many might read it and think im a real idiot. What bothers me most if when I read someone elses question, and I read them twice to make sure Im seeing what Im seeing, and then respond and by the time I send my post, theyve come back and changed it to make me look like I never read it in the first place. I also get really frustrated with the ones who come back with "So What Happened," and it completely changes how we all would have responded if we had all those facts to start with. You cant leave out major facts and expect us to make an intelligent comment and then give us details, and then blast us for not understanding.

I have realized that when I have posted a question and in an effort to not make a question too long winded, it may have meant I mistakenly left off vital details. Details, that in some cases might have meant someone would have responded differently... Also, I think I may have been too h*** o* some people and it's those responses that I might have wanted to change. My new outlook lately has been... try and respond without getting too emotionally charged.. there are afterall, many sides to a story (mine included) ..and it's nice to have the benefit of the doubt.. even if just some of the time..

If I notice right away I change it. Or if is see some other response that doesn't sit well with me, I will address that. If it has been a while, I won't edit it if someone else has said what I would have added--I send the responder a flower to show agreement.

People do it all the time--in fact some people completely change their original question after they get a lot of responses....

Some people change their responses, too. (I think many do this after seeing another perspective and then--DOH! V-8 moment.

As far as clarifying, correcting...you can always go back and edit.

I have never changed a question once I have posted (unless it is a misspelling or something). I will put ETA: or something similar. =)

I posted after a few too many glasses of wine after an event. When I woke up I went to remove it. Thank God it was allready gone when I got up. Ha Ha. Dont drink and mamasource!

I only go back and edit miss spellings and what not.....Sometimes I will admit I read a question poorly before answering...Then I slap face with hand are a result.

Until about 2 months ago I never knew you could go and edit an actual post, I thought you could only go in at the bottom of the post & put ETA.

Sometimes I know that I was a bit more *blunt* than I intended on being but overall I don't recall thinking anything needs to be changed, although I am sure others will disagree :)

I hate when people change anything in there post without at least adding ETA. This happened recently, a respondent kept changing her post several times & included my screen name on her post but then took it off. But I had already responded to her, so my response was a bit strange looking if you didn't know what she was doing. I kindly asked her to at least add ETA & she said she would do whatever she wanted, oh well.
