OMG - Am I a "Flower Ho?"

So, reading an earlier response to a post someone admitted they have two accounts and once in a while they will use one account to "send a flower" to themself. I sent them a private message asking what the benefit was to doing that out of curiosity sake. They candidly admitted they sometimes feel they give a great answer, and pat themself on the back for it (which I can appreciate)...also, I liked their honesty.

So, it made me think about it, and I realized how much I enjoy receiving flowers when I wax and wane poetic about something, and people agree. It is especially gratifying to receive one from someone who you enjoy their posts and agree with their opinions quite a bit. There are some crazy smart posts and replies here, and it is really gratifying to receive a flower from a name you recognize and respect.

I also find that sometimes I get a bit too direct. I am a very vocal person...which is a love em or hate them sort of person to be. So...when I post something which sort of deters from public opinion, I am sort of dumbfounded that instead of the "post deletion or reported" I get a bunch of flowers.

Am I the only person who gets a weird sort of pleasure when I post something, and go back and re-read it to find "8 moms found this helpful?" I think I may be a "Flower Ho." :)

So What Happened?

Mommyalways...check out the right hand corner that says "Mommyalways Account." If you click on it you can see your "inbox." If you click on that, you will see who gave your flowers, if you click on them.. it will bring you to the post that someone "flowered" you.

I don't have 2 accounts, I spend enough time on here as it is... But I do love getting flowers, I usually only reply to the posts that I have something to really add, not simply to respond just for the sake of responding. I appreciate when someone takes the time to read my response and send me a flower. So, you are certainly not the only one....

Funny post SammyJo. Consider yourself "flowered"! = )

PS -- I guess I am not a full-blown flower ho as I do NOT have a 2nd mamapedia acct that I use to "flower" myself. Though I am sure it is perfectly healthy to "flower" yourself.

Nope you are not alone! I agree completely! It is nice to know that when you have put the thought and energy into answering someone's post, that that person agrees or, even better, that others do as well! I am also the woman that will send everyone who posts something (as long as it is logical) a flower...you took the time to answer, I take the time to "thank you". :)

I love them! I really do want my thoughts and words to be helpful, so that is my primary motivation for responding. But I just can't help it. The flowers make me feel so good!

Don't we all liked to be stroked?
But giving yourself a flower for others to see is going a bit too far.

I'm often surprised which of my posts get flowers. Ones that I consider particularly insightful rarely do, whereas ones where I think I'm stating the obvious often do. I wonder if I misjudge myself? But anyway, I do like to see that my answers are appreciated, and it's nice to see I'm not alone!

Ha ha... this is a funny post and you deserve a flower for it.

I love to give flowers as I think that they are well deserved when someone takes the time out of their busy day to answer. I feel that 98% of people on here are here to genuinely help and then there are the few that love to just..mmm, you know.

I wouldn't have ever thought of myself as a "ho"
but I definitely appreciate receiving flowers.
Especially, as you said, when they come from someone
whose opinions and writing I admire.

Is there a quick easy way to get to the oldest stuff in my inbox?
I would like to delete stuff from months ago
but don't have the patience to get to the earlier entries
by skipping back every 4-5 "pages" at a time.

I don't think I ever would have thought of sending myself a flower.
Interesting.

No, you are not the only one...I rather enjoy getting that acknowledgment that comes from giving my 0.02 to someone's post and having them appreciate it. I tend to give lots of flowers too and it's interesting to me that when I give flowers to others, they tend to give flowers in return - maybe it's because we have similar opinions. I try to be has helpful as I can with what I know, and try really hard not to come across as rude or judgemental. However, sometimes I do feel the need to be blunt, and to call a spade a spade. Sometimes those responses seem to get the most flowers.

Flowers to you! :)
