I am considering beginning the NuvaRing form of birth control and have an appointment with my OB/GYN in a few weeks to decide for sure. I'm interested in finding out about your experiences if you have tried it or are currently using it. Thanks!

Hello, I used it for 1 1/2 yrs and loved it! It did come out 2x but that is rare. I would continue using it but I couldnt while breastfeedind and the cost was very high. I think it was like $55 a month (my insurance didnt cover it). I'm now on sprintex and pay $9 a month. Hope the ring works for you!

Coming from someone who is unable to take the pill/patch..(Side effects..nausea, hormone spikes..et) the ring was a great alternative. The only downside is you will have more discharge than normal. On occasion, I noticed some slight nausea for the first few days I used it...but nothing really bothersome.

Hi A.! I used Nuvaring for 2 years and loved it. The only reason i'm not using it now is because we're TTC. Like most of the other posters, I had easy and light periods, no mood swings and even my moderate acne completely cleared up. I've never been a good pill person (the pill makes me truly crazy!! LOL.), but the Nuvaring was great.

I love it! I have tried several different types of pills since I have been 18. I originally started the pill for heavy periods and painful cramps, then had to change a lot for symptoms, after my son, and after a faux pregnancy on the pill. Since the first month on the ring, I have been like clockwork and have had no side effects.

I was on NuvaRing several years ago. It made me very moody and gave me a discharge. Needless to say, I did not like it.

Love it! I have been using it for over a year after a switch from the patch, and I have not been disappointed. It seems it's the best BC as far as side effects and mood changes. I hope you like it!

Not sure if anyone has mentioned this yet, and not sure if you are breastfeeding, but... NuvaRing should not be used in nursing mothers because it can cause jaundice in your baby and will drastically reduce your milk supply.

Other than that, I've heard good things about it. I plan to start using it soon since I just weaned my 17-month-old daughter.

Hi A.. I have to say that I love the NuvaRing. I have been on it almost 1 year. It is super convenient. I love not taking a pill. And most of all I love not having the PMS I had real bad while on the pill. The only thing I hate is actually taking it out, but that is just me. Good Luck.

I used it for awhile and loved the convenience. I had to stop because I just can't take any hormones. Birth control pills have always caused me to have headaches. If that weren't the case, I would have continued using it. It's really easy!

I've been on the Nuvaring. It's pretty easy, you keep it in for 3 weeks. Then you can either keep it out for a week and get your period or just put a new one in and skip the period. I think after about 3 months of no period, you have to let youself have one. It's nice to not have to think about taking a pill everyday. I had no side effects, I think it low dose. Good luck with your decision.

A., i've never had the nuva ring but it just sounds like alot of work and remembering to me, after my daughter was born i had a mirena iud put in, it's kind of the same concept except you don't have to take it out, it's good for up to 5 years and it's inserted by your ob in their office, at first you get a little cramping and some spotting, but after a few months you don't get your period at all!!! i've been in heaven without my period for the past 3 years, and it's perfectly natural just ask you ob for more info if your interested!

Good morning! I actually just went OFF the nuvaring. Don't get me wrong, I loved it!!! I have issues with birth control pills...they make me psychotic, I get all kinds of break through bleeding, etc...I can't seem to find one that actually works for me. So I went on the nuvaring for about 6 months. It helped with the emotional stuff, my periods were GREAT...I'd get it about 3 days after taking the ring out, usually on a Wednesday and it would be DONE by Saturday. The first maybe 2 months, my periods were EXTREMELY heavy...like almost scary heavy. but then it went to normal. the problem I had was that I was having a lot of (sorry, this is gross) discharge and when I went to my ob/gyn for my annual, he told me i was getting an infection. He said there is about 10% of women who get constant infections from the Nuvaring and can't use it. So he put me back on yet another pill. But I would definitely recommend trying it. The thing I worried about in the beginning (not to be graphic) was my boyfriend being able to feel it during sex. He said he only felt it a couple times and it never "bothered" him when he did. Anyway, hope that helps, but for the most part I really liked being on it!!

I am not a personal user of the Nuvaring , but all of my sister in laws and friends use it , and I have heard nothing but good things about it. They said it takes a little to get used to , but they all now love it .

i love the Nuva ring! i know this sounds weird but i am prone to vagional infections and it seemed that i had less while i was using the ring. My scrip was accidently changed to the patch after a year of the nuvaring. I hated the patch it was such a hassle and i ended up getting pregnant. After i had my son i have opted to have my tubes tied. had i not i would have gone with the nuva ring again!

I used it for a few months and had horrible experience with it. I was allergic to the material it was made of plus the hormones made me very bit**y.
Good Luck with it
