Number of Days Between Periods Change?

Is it normal for the number of days between your periods to change every month? The last 2-3 years my cycle will be 24 days one month, 26 the next, 32 the next, 28 the next etc. I charted them all down and it is most often between 25-27 days but ranges all the way from 23 days (the shortest, which was this month and what prompted me to check the number between the last several months of periods) to 33-34 (which was the longest and has only happened twice in the last 2 years). I am 34 and had my last baby 6 years ago but prior to that my periods came every 27 days like clockwork! I saw online that "normal" cycles can range from 22-35 but does this also mean that they can change within this range month to month?? I didn't want to google because that never ends well. Thanks!

What can I do next?

Very normal. I know some women do have cycles with the same number of days each month, but they are really the exception.

It's normal for many of us to have the number of days to vary. Mine were always that way. I saw the gynecologist several times, 2-3 different doctors, no one was concerned about my irregular periods.

Yes. I would be shocked if my cycle started to be the same every month. :)

Sounds like peri-menopause. Mine were 28 like clockwork, till about the last 2 years. They started to shift off a day or so every few months, then within the last 6 months, it can be anywhere from 26-30 days - still in the ballpark, but unpredictable.

I use an app (Free) called Period Plus to track them. I at least have a head's up countdown so I can start paying attention the few days beforehand.

I'm 45 years old, and mine has gone from every 24 days (from Day 1 to Day 1) to every 18-21 days, and sometimes every 14 days (especially if I'm strength training or losing weight - it's weird).

On a completely unrelated issue, I had an MRI on my hip which just happened to show some fibroids and uterine cysts.

Just had a uterine biopsy and it came back fine.

My gyn said your cycles can get irregular when you start into perimenopause (mine have been changing for the last 5-6 years). It's still a very good idea to get with a *good* gyn to rule out obvious problems. Chances are you'll be fine but you won't know until you get checked. And they can give you options to normalize your cycle. I elected to do nothing for now but will re-visit next year.

Hope you get this figured out!

Once you're in your 30's, things start to change.
By your late 30's it's not too early for some peri-meopause symptoms to start up.
Peri-meopause can go on a long time - like 15 years - and it can start very gradually.
Be sure you're on a good reliable birth control so you're not going crazy every time your period is a few days late.
