Hi All,

My Dr. recommended I have this done....due to my extreme periods after having my tubes tied.

Anyone have it done? Thoughts on it...? How did it go for you? Do you still have your periods after, are they just lighter or gone all together? Did your insurance cover it?

After reading the pamphlet she gave me...it looks like they just burn off your lining, correct. It is supposed to be quick and relatively painless...was that how it was for you?

Any and all thoughts welcomed and appreciated!

Thanks!

I didn't have the endometrial ablation - I had an uterine ablation - I believe they are one and the same....

I was out of the hospital that day and back to work in two. It worked for almost 2 years then - my body decided HEY!!!! I'm a pain in the rear....so I had a hysterectomy in Feb 11 and it's WONDERFUL!!!

Had it done about six weeks ago. I did get a period but BARELY. Hoping it'll be my last one.

It was an easy process but I don't have any issues with surgery. MY mistake was declining a pain killer. THANKFULLY I had something at home. The post surgery feels like labor but I slept for about five hours after getting home and I was about 90% back to normal.

I HIGHLY recommend it. I wish I did this three years ago.

My insurance did cover it--United Heathcare.

It was $5,817.00 for my doctor, $7,982.10 for the hospital and $1,312 for the pre-op labs.

Do a search on this. This question gets asked almost WEEKLY!

My friend did it four or five years ago. It happened to come up at lunch the other day. She still says it was the best thing she ever did for herself.

Best wishes!

I had it done three years ago due to fibroids and periods that lasted three weeks long. I was put under general anesthesia and when i woke up it was pretty painful. It was explained to me that the more they burn or remove, the more effective it is...I haven't had a period in three years (not even spotting). My insurance covered all of it (Aetna PPO), not sure how much it would have cost. I felt great the next day. I wish I had done it sooner!

I have NOT done this. But I was about to have it, but never did go through with the procedure. However, I wish I would have.

They put you in a light sleep. It takes not even an hour to get the whole procedure done. Supposed to be painless.

However, it is not 100%. You may still have periods but they are supposed to be very light. Or you may just stop having periods altogether.

We are military and at the time our insurance covered it. However, I don't know about now since we have a different type of military insurance now that we are full time army (DH at the time was deployed with the National Guard so we had the type of insurance you had to pay for montly. But now our insurance is covered but a lot of things we still have to pay for).

You would need to check with your insurance company to see if they cover it. They would know.

I had it done three years ago and it was great!! No periods!! My insurance paid for everything. The doctor uses a laser to burn the inside of the uterus. The surgery is 90 seconds........... :)
