Nook Tablet, Amazon Fire or iPad2

I am interested in opinions on the Nook Tablet, Amazon Fire or iPad 2. I want something I can read books on, download/play music, as well as access apps, movies and books to entertain the kids. Everyone I know raves about the iPad2, but I'm not sure I need/want a screen that big - would like to be able to fit it in my purse when needed. I am also not sure I want to spend that much money and wonder if we'd be just as satisfied with the Nook Tablet or Amazon Fire. Does anyone have the Nook Tablet or Amazon Fire yet? And what do you think of it?

I got the Nook Color last Christmas and LOVE it! My 4 year old daughter loves it too! I agree with other posters that it comes down to personal preference of Amazon vs. Barnes and Noble. I've always gone to Barnes and Noble and am also a member so that was really no question. Plus, at the time Kindle didn't have a color tablet and B&N did. But I too like having a store to go to if I were to ever need help with it. They have classes on how to use it too.

I have the nook color and love it. I rooted it to be a tablet. It was easy, took about 15/30 minutes. If you root it, it's a fully functioning tablet without any of B&N's limitations on it's ability. You can google the process. I think the program I used was Cyanogen mod 7.

My kids are getting Kindle Fire's and they are getting great reviews. I'm almost jealous I'm not getting one for myself!

I got the Kindle Fire when it came out last week. I love it. It's awesome. I carry it in my purse. It's light, small, and loads up instantly. I'm not typing from it right now because my husband took it to work with him. I think I know what I'll be getting him for Christmas!

I am typing this from my new Kindle Fire. It was a gift from my awesome husband for earning a Master's degree. To say I love it is an understatement. This thing is amazing. So easy to use and does nearly everything an IPad would do, only on a smaller screen.

I would recommend investing in a good cover for it. I ordered mine from Amazon and they had a lot to choose from.

Downloads are easy and the screen is easy to read. Love, love, love it!

I don't have either, but I have been researching because I want one as well. So far I'm leaning toward the Nook. It has more memory and storage, longer battery life and is lighter then the Amazon fire. It's also getting better reviews.I think it's a tad bigger, but not as big as the iPad.

The Amazon Kindle Fire is winning in the reviews I've read. It's what I would buy if I could justify the expense :-)

I love my kyros Coby 8024. It was 170 and I've seen it on sale for 159 on Amazon. It has a great picture, works awesome, has 2 gigs of ram and a 1 gigaherts processor.

I have Kindle books, Sony books, and nook books on it, a long with audible.com stories, and emusic. There are lots of android aps for kids that are free to download.

I got the Nook Tablet when it came out (my Xmas gift to me!) - I love it, my kids love it. Like Andra C said, it's lighter, longer battery life, and has more memory. (I believe the Kindle and the Nook are the same size - the Nook Tablet is the same size as the Nook Color - so there are already tons of accessories out there for it!) if you have a BN membership, you can get $25 off too. I love the kids "read to me" books - and so do my kids! you can record yourself reading a children's book! But it's also very easy to use - I had some issues figuring out how to borrow e-books from the library using Overdrive - but once I followed Overdrive's directions instead of BNs, it worked just fine. My opinion on the Nook vs the Kindle - which store do you prefer - Amazon or BN? I prefer BN, mostly because I like to have a brick & mortar place I can go if I need help and we have the BN membership and buy lots of books there.

Hope that helps!

I just got a Kindle Fire and love it. I agree with Lisa G. that it basically comes down to whether you want to do business with Amazon or Barnes & Noble. I also checked my local library and their ebooks are compatible with the Kindle, not the Nook, which made my decision easy.

My husband has an ipad, kindle and an android etablet. My kids (ages 4 and 2.5) love the ipad and etablet. They are very user-friendly. My husband will most likely get a Kindle Fire at some point, if not for Christmas because he says it encompasses everything all of those other gadgets do. He can download any app, book, music, movies, etc. He also likes the smaller screen. You also can't beat the price of the Kindle Fire either. Now that everyone else is starting to come out with a knock off of the ereaders and ipad, it is silly to pay those insane prices. I think you would be very happy with the Fire out of all those choices. Good luck!
