Hi. I hope you lovely ladies can help me. I have have a fantastic, energetic boy who turns 3 next week. He was all set to begin preschool this week, but my husband's job is requiring a last-minute move to Laguna Niguel at the end of this month. As a result, I need to find a new pre-school in the area that may still have spots available (long shot, I know). As I mentioned, my son is highly active and spirited, so I don't feel that Montessori-based programs are a good fit for him, and I prefer smaller, play-based programs, but any and all suggestions would be GREATLY appreciated since this is soooooo last minute.

Thank you in advance.

if nothing else works, check out the local community colleges, they almost always have a preschool program, and they are usually less expensive or even subsidized

Take a look at McDowell school and see if it's something you would like: http://www.mcdowellelementary.com/?utm_source=offline&amp...

Also, we have a lot of preschools listed on my site http://oc.citymommy.com - it's a free social networking site for OC moms that includes a message board, directory of local businesses and much more. We have a preschool discussion thread currently on our main board, so you might be able to find some more great info there.

Hi there.

I live in Aliso Viejo and have two boys...one 11 month old and one four year old...Believe me, my four year old has a TON of energy and he's at Montessori on the Lake in Lake Forest. It's about a 20 min drive for me...and I love it. My oldest has been there since he was four months old. He is learning a ton of stuff...sometimes the things he comes home talking about are amazing to me! I can't believe he learns such details at four! He plays h*** o* the play ground, enjoys music class, they just started a weekly yoga class in his group, he's doing really well learning his numbers, letters, and sounds for the letters. (They do things phonics based which I like.)

I'm not sure this place is great for you because you might want something closer, but I guess I just don't understand why you would rule out Montessori. I think each school is individual regardless of the teaching method. I know some people don't think Montessori's are disciplined enough, but believe me! This one is. I love going to kids birthday parties and seeing my son and the others from his class line up nicely with their hands behind their backs while the other kids have trouble listening to direction. It's all MOTL...they do a great job giving the kids freedom to learn and be three or four years old but also setting firm boundaries and expectations for behaviour.

Good luck! If you want to check out their website, I believe it's www.montessorionthelake.com. They also have two other schools that might be closer for you...

Hi,
My daughter had the best experience at Shepard of the Hill Preschool in MV. It came highly recommened, and I fell in love with it on my tour. My daughter has since graduated from there, but she has fantastic memories of the school. Everyone the parents, staff and children were wonderful.
I recommended it to my neighbor a week or so ago, she too fell in love with the school, and was able to enroll her son. If you're interested they may still have openings. The number is ###-###-####.

We do not live in MV ~ but it was worth the drive...the fees are reasonable too.

Good luck,
E.

Both our boys went to Rancho Capistrano Christian. It is in San Juan, but right on the border of Laguna Niguel (right off 5, between Avery and J Serra - next to Mercedes Benz dealership). The grounds are beautiful, the teachers are awesome. My youngest was the "spirited" one and they have great programs for all the kids! The website is

http://ranchocapistrano.org/school/school.html

and the phone number is ###-###-####. Jennifer is the preschool director and Jenna is the administrator.

They are very flexible and will work with your schedule. I hope you have a safe/stress-less move. And that you find a school that you and your child really love! You can email me if you have any other questions, ____@____.com
