I got married at the Alexander Mansion in Dallas. It is an old historic home with lots of character and is maintained by the Dallas Women's Forum. The cost wasn't too much compared to other places and it was so unique we couldn't pass it up. It is a 3 story building and with your reception you get to use all but the top floor for your guests - it's very cool. They have a dance floor and you would renew your vows on the top of the stairs in front of this beautiful window (there is a photo on the website) - standing room only for the guest but we had about 200 people there and everyone loved it. Might work for ya.

My husband and I were married two years ago in March at Maple Manor in Dallas. We had the wedding and reception there and everything was wonderful. They are right next to the Old Warsaw - which handled all the food. My friends said it was the best food they'd ever had at a wedding. We had planned to be married outside (they have a lovely courtyard) but due to the rain we were married inside - which was much more intimate. Depending on your budget and number of guests, I'm sure they'd be able to accommodate you. Here's the link to their site, but I have to say it does not do the hotel justice: http://maplemanorhotel.com/homepage/

Please let me know if you have any questions!

There was recently a posting on here from Alison S. She is starting a event planning biz and is currently trying to find people who want stuff planned to help her get a portfolio going so you might want to enlist her help as I believe she is doing it for free right now to get things up and going. I also have a friend who is a DJ and if you are interested I am a photographer and I have very good rates. I like the girls idea about a hawaian theme. Those can be sooo beautiful, simple, and comfortable. Oriental Traiding also has a great wedding section for even a tradition type wedding ordeal as well. There is also a mom on here doing cakes for only the price of materials to also help her start her portfolio if you want to contact her as well. How fun! Congrats!

My husband and I married three years ago at a place called Heritage Hall in Irving. We chose it because we have friends and family all around the metroplex so it was close to everyone and it was one of the less expensive places to rent as we could use our own caterer etc. It had a small and cozy reception hall (which they decorated in the color of our choice) with dance floor and dj booth as well as a chapel with pews, and ivy covered trellises for vows. The kitchen was equipped for caterers and we could bring our own beer and wine. We had about 100 people and I think with catering from Ninfa's, DJ, alcohol, wedding hall, cake, limo - you name it - it was about $3,000 and everyone had a great time! Best wishes!

K.,
I do not know of any places to have a wedding. But one idea that may or not work for you is to do a Hawaiian theme wedding. My husband and I did this for our wedding. We did a cookout out and the cost was very little. I made the wedding party's outfits (3dresses and 3 shirts) out of a tropical print fabric. The flowers were leas that you can order at orentialtrading.com. All the guest got leas, they were the plastic kind. We did the cookout of hamburgers and chicken and had everyone bring their own drinks. It was so much fun. The total cost was about $500. We did the wedding under cedar and pines trees at my moms. You can check out that website and they have some really great party stuff so you could even get a different idea. If you are good at sewing and crafting, or know someone that is, you can save alot of money buy doing everything yourself. Congrats and have one!
