Need New Vacuum Recommendations

Our 10 yr old Hoover upright has just stopped working & we are looking for a new vacuum, but are overwhelmed a bit at all of the options. We have all hardwood floors with tile in bathrooms, plus a few small area rugs (and no pets).
Anyone have a vacuum they would recommend?

Thanks a lot!

We love the dyson. We have had it for over 2 year and it is still working great. Before that, it seemed like we went through a vacuum a year.

I have the dyson too, and I LOVED it when I had carpet. I have now moved to a house that is all hardwood, and it throws dirt around unless I use just the wand. I have the Dyson Ball (but not the small one, I have the full size version).

I think dyson's are great, but they are not all made the same, so if you get one, I would make sure its made for hardwood... ours isnt b/c you cant turn off the spin brush on the bottom... (wait.. can you... tell me how if you know!! lol)

We love our Dyson! I believe they have a small version that would be great for hardwoods and area rugs, maybe the Dyson Ball?

We've had ours for a few years and it's still working great!

I am not sure how big of a vacuum you are looking for, but we bought a Electrolux stick vac for the laminate flooring we have throughout our first floor. It works awesome, even on throw rugs. We have 2 dogs and 2 kids, so I am using several times a day. The middle pops out and becomes a hand vac. It works much better than our big dirt devil on the hard surfaces. I bought mine at Best Buy for about $100, but they also sell them at Target.

I just purchased a Bissell Powerforce Bagless. I really love it - it's self-propel feature works well, it's easy to empty, the filters are washable, and it does a great job at picking up dirt. It doesn't have a huge number of attachments, but that doesn't bother me. I can't speak to how long it will last (yet), but I am very pleased overall.

Have you considered a robotic vacuum? I own a business that sells them.

Robots are great because they do an excellent job and you don't have to do the vacuuming yourself. Most come with a recharging station so it will recharge itself. One model can even be set to vacuum on a schedule.

If you decide to buy a robot, call us and we will help you select the appropriate model.

I have the Dyson Drive and I love it. It's great for my wood floors, tile floors, carpet and area rugs. Worth every penny. Bought it at Target. Would buy another Dyson in a heartbeat. (The Drive came with a small attachment for the cars, but I've never really used that part.)
